I bet you feel awesome after playing ball, Bill. Most kids hate losing to older guys. I'm to the point at 27 where I love whooping up on younger guys that are quicker than me. Good times!

It's the only sport I can still beat my son at, enjoying it while it lasts.

Thursday 06/15/06

214.5 lbs

3 hours digging and moving 3 ton of rock for my damn patio. My back was too sore to work out after. Something good must be happening because my weight is dropping.

Saturday 06/16/06
Sunday 06/17/06

213.5 lbs

14 hours of hauling stone, sand and pavers in the 90+ degree heat. I'm thinking of collaborating with Lou on a book called "Home Improvement for Weight Loss." The project is finished but I did pull my right lat carrying bags of sand. Tonight's workout will be some kind of lower body work only.

Bill,
You do know that slave labor ended in the country quite some time ago?

That's a lot of time you have shaved off Elizabeth just since February. I bet your time improvements on all of the CF routines are amazing.

When you start contracting yourself out for honey-do projects, please let us know!

Monday 06/19/06

214 lbs

Pull-ups 10 sets of 5 reps

My trap feels better but I'm still just beat from working in the heat all weekend so I did these while running some computer maintenence. I'm really surprised how easy they have become, even on a day when I'm just dragging ass. I'll work out for real tomorrow.....I promise myself.

Thanks Dave, but now more manual labor for me for quite a while.

Truth is, I don't know how. I guess I'm just technically retarded. Hell, I can't even get an avatar since the new forum is here.

I'll work on it. By that way that probably should read "technologically retarded."

Before Greg starts asking where I'm at, I'd like to admit to injuring my neck over the weekend. I'm guessing that I turned too quick to check out a cute female runner. However it happened, it hurt like hell and made driving a bitch. I'll probably rest tonight and get at it tomorrow.

Murph

In memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005.
This workout was one of Mike's favorites and he'd named it 'Body Armor.' From here on it will be referred to as 'Murph' in honor of the focused warrior and great American who wanted nothing more in life than to serve this great country and the beautiful people who make it what it is.
  • 1 mile Run
  • 100 Pull-ups
  • 200 Push-ups
  • 300 Squats
  • 1 mile Run
For time.
Partition the pull-ups, push-ups, and squats as needed. Start and finish with a mile run. If you've got a twenty pound vest or body armor, wear

Time 55:00

Halfway through this week of doing almost nothing I declared it a taper before the big event. I was starting to loose focus on my workouts with a lot of projects at home and work and felt that I'd better get this out of the way before I slipped too far.

I have to say that this is even harder than it looks. I was halfway through with a time of 23:00. I did 20 sets of 5 pull-ups, 10 push-ups and 15 squats. I took a much needed 2 minute rest after set 13 to catch my
breath. After set 15 I just wanted to get done and slowed some. Now for the real time killer, I walked the final mile. My legs were like jelly after the 300 squats. The first mile was 9 minutes, the second 15 minutes.

I am a little disappointed with the time, 50 minutes was my goal. However, when I look back at how much more fit I am now than when I started this log in September I'm thrilled. Except for the people on this board I'm the fittest almost senior citizen I know.

Thanks Greg, Craig, Dave, Chris and everyone else who encouraged me and set such high standards to follow on the X Fit workouts. I already have a new goal in mind for next year. Tonight it's dinner with friends and an open bar at a graduation party afterwards, another reson to get it over today.

Congratulations on finishing Murph, Bill!!!!! Completing the workout in 55 minutes is a huge accomplishment and you should be proud of your efforts. You've come a long way these past few months and made huge strides with your pull-ups. Between the Xfit workouts and your active lifestyle, you're physical conditioning is probably better than most people 15 years younger than you.

I would have liked to have done the workout with you or at least given you some encouragment before attempting it. I might attempt the full workout myself later next week in honor of your B-day.

Looking forward to seeing your next set of goals.

Enjoy the beer and food tonight. You've earned it.

Bill - congrats on the Murph finish! You caught us offguard on this one - I saw your new log and realized you musy have already done Murph. It must feel great to achieve this long term goal. 55:00 looks like a good time to me for completing all of that work. That one would put anyone under the table. Great job -- looking forward to your completion of the next goal!

Thanks guys. I woke up early Saturday morning and just felt like getting this out of the way. I have a lot of family and work stuff coming up over the next few weeks and was concerned about finding the right time. Right now may quads are so damn sore walking down stairs is torture.
