when you say "Plank" is that like the push-up position but on your elbows?
I have that in my routine and don't know how to call them. [/qb]

Thanks Mary!
You'll have to send me that recipe. I was going to look one up until I had the bright idea of ordering one. My last attempt to make oatmeal cookies turned out to be a disaster...apparently been too long.
Yes, planks are like a hold in the push-up positions except your arms are in front of you instead of to the side...

Re: Cappy\'s TT#4 : Lean Power
Thanks Kaiser and Nick! It's been a fun day. The cake was a disappointment though. It was 1/3 cake and 2/3 cream in layers...waaay too rich and not enough cake Next time I'll inquire more about a cake before ordering one from a bakery. More for them to enjoy at the office tomorrow.
Maryka...you don't have to translate...je parle francais.
How's your neck, Kaiser?

Re: Cappy\'s TT#4 : Lean Power
Before you don't want to hear anything about deserts for a while.. here is the carrot cake recipe.. .. It's NOT low fat or low sugar.. but freezes very well. So what I do.. once it's cooled, I cut it up into single portions, wrap them separately and put the lot in a freezer bag and freeze them. Then on those special days that I want or deserve a piece, I just have to take it out à little in advance. I through in the Frosting recipe but that, I only prepare for guests.
Carrot Cake
2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
3 cups grated carrots
2 cups flour
a little salt
2 teaspoons of baking powder
1 cup chopped walnuts
4 eggs
- put oil in blender
- gradually add grated carrots
- transfer ingrediantes in a mixing bowl
- blend in the eggs, one at a time
- add the sugar, the flour (siffted together with the salt and the baking powder), the walnuts.
*bake at 350° F in two greased and floured bread pans for 1 1/2 hours
Frosting
4 oz Philadelphia Cream Chees
1/2 lb fruit powdred sugar
3 tablespoons of butter
1 teaspoon of vanilla
-blend together the chesse and the butter.
-add the sugar and the vanilla
-blend some more until smooth

Re: Cappy\'s TT#4 : Lean Power
mmm! Thanks Marykaa! I bet this will be better than the bakery one!
October 20th
workout 2, now named jello day, OMG
general warm-up
specific warm up:squats with bb;bench press with 20lb DB
tuck jumps:2x5
I felt like I was jumping really high, here but don't know for sure.
explosive squats @ 50%: 65x2x4sets;85x2x4sets
a little confused with the 50% - should have asked first. 65 seemed really light, but kept it for a while cause I wasn't exactly EXPLODING out of the squat. Upped it 1/2 way through cause it didn't feel like I was working hard enough, but it did slow me down.
explosive bench @50%: 55x3x4 sets;65x3x4sets
same exploration on finding the right weight here. Felt like 65 was a good mix between being hard and also trying to EXPLODE!
BW circuit 3x no rest (ok a few breathers here and there)
1leg deadlift x 10
ball rollout x 10
Med ball elevated push-up x8 (each side)
bulgarian split squat x 20 (*#$!!!)
10 sec eccentric pull-up x 1
OMG
I had to walk around the gym afterwards to cool down and then as I was leaving I noticed my legs were like jello. The last set of Bul Split squats were two sets of 10. And I'm sure the deadlifts didn't get as low the more I did them.
fun fun fun workout!

Re: Cappy\'s TT#4 : Lean Power
Sat Oct 22
LR Race for the Cure
For anyone not familiar with this race, it's one of the biggest in the world. 40,000 signed up. As I was walking to my car 40-50mins after the race, I had to cross the pack of walkers to get to the other side of the street. Looking down the street, all you could see was a sea of walkers. It's quite amazing.
Well this is my yearly event, but I wasn't expecting a record time. I've been slacking, and it shows. However, I did still make the top 300, so I got a medal. My time was in the neighborhood of 26, or just under. I got a real crappy start, since I was too far back, but my first mile was about 7:45. The second mile is up a bridge and another hill and was about 16:30, so I apparently lost a bit of time here (and last mile too). I do remember thinking I wasn't as miserable as I should have been, until the sprint to the end.
So, motivation to get back in gear...and sign up for my next race!
As the day grew on yesterday, my legs went from tired to sore. Did some foam rolling and stretching last night and a little roller this morning. So I guess it WAS good I didn't do intervals yesterday like I wanted to...might have kept me out of medal contention.
On a fun note, I finally convinced my mother to do intervals, and she finished in less than 40mins in the first time in who knows how long.
Ahhh, time for a massage. Planning on workout #3 later today.
