Re: TG\'s Log...Building a Better Booty, Booty, B-B-B-B Booty!
I hope those meds help with pain, it can be very bad, I know. have you started the higher doses fish oil like we talked a while back? One of Berardi's networking people (Tammy Thomas) is starting a website about RA and other autoimmune diseases, I will ask her if she has any good sites for you to read about nutrition and self help while she puts that up. Good luck with everything, girl!

Re: TG\'s Log...Building a Better Booty, Booty, B-B-B-B Booty!
Thanks girls. Gayla...I'm working on a site myself...there are only a couple good ones out there so I thought it would be good to have a place for people to talk. Mine is more for personal issues on how to deal with all of it. It def. helps to talk to others experiencing it. I can't wait to see Tammy's. My sister has MS so we seem to have auto-immune diseases in our family so it will be nice to have her site to go to.
I am taking the fish oil. I was wondering if glucosamine helps much as well. I haven't researched it yet.

Re: TG\'s Log...Building a Better Booty, Booty, B-B-B-B Booty!
Glucosamine and chondroitin have only been studied for OA, not RA. Check out this website for a lot of good info on RA and joint health: www.drtheo.com.
Specifically from that site:
"Unfortunately, there have not been any large, controlled studies on the use of glucosamine, chondroitin, or ASU on rheumatoid arthritis sufferers. From a theoretical standpoint, some of the mechanisms of action of these supplements would suggest that they should benefit The supplements can inhibit the enzymes that break down cartilage as well as the negative effects of IL-l, chemicals that are produced both in osteoarthritis and even more so in rheumatoid arthritis. Furthermore, many people with RA also have osteoarthritis and can benefit from the use of the supplements. Since every case of RA is different, it is important to discuss the use of these supplements with your rheumatologist."

Re: TG\'s Log...Building a Better Booty, Booty, B-B-B-B Booty!
Thanks K...I will def. check out that site.
I'm beginning to hate what that last sentence says as I've been reading it everywhere..."every case of RA is different"...it is what makes finding the perfect treatment plan so difficult and it's hard to deal with mentally. Ah well...it will come together in time. Just wish I had more patience.

I have a sister-in-law who swears by glucosamine, says it did miracles on her shoulder for arthritis.

Ok..so since I can't workout, I was thinking to myself today..."I should get something pierced"..haha...so that's what I did :P I must be getting bored...lol. I better get back to the gym soon or I'll be putting more holes in my body! (I JUST got it done so it's still a little red around it)

Ha! It's looking a little better now..redness is all gone.
Jeff still won't let me get the tat..I know..won't let me? But he's really against it so I just don't bother right now. No sense in causing probs over a tat.

Re: TG\'s Log...Building a Better Booty, Booty, B-B-B-B Booty!
TRAINING GIRL.. maybe you could get one of those fake tatoos.. the kind that washes of.. just to let him get used to seeing a tatoo.. and who knows.. maybe he'd end up liking it..
would he be against that?
just don't tell him it's to get him used to it. just have fun with the fake tatoo for now.

Re: TG\'s Log...Building a Better Booty, Booty, B-B-B-B Booty!
Good idea MK..I might have to do that
And guess what...I did 10 pushups today! haha..I know that doesn't sound like much but it's the most of anything I've been able to do in almost 2 months. Thinking about trying a few more bodyweight things over this week. We'll see..don't wanna push it but I wanna workout! When I can def. get back to working out full-time I'll start a new log since this has def. fizzled out.

Hey you can get the Henna tattoos too they last about a week I think. Becareful how far you push yourself, ease back into things and listen to your body. RA is a bugger to get into a routine with. What type of meds do they have you on (classifaction)??

Re: TG\'s Log...Building a Better Booty, Booty, B-B-B-B Booty!
They have me on Prednisone, Plaquinil(anti-malarial), Prevacid and Naproxen(anti-inflammatory). I'm also taking Tylenol Arthritis and Lexapro (anti-depressant). If the pain does not get better by the time I see her again in 3 weeks, she will most likely put me on the methotrexate (normally used for Cancer but in smaller doses it is supposed to help RA). I'm definitely taking my time. If I am in more pain tomorrow, which usually happens after I do anything, than I will not try anything else.

Re: TG\'s Log...Building a Better Booty, Booty, B-B-B-B Booty!
You may want to see if COX-2 (cyclooxygenase-2) inhibitors (celebrex) may be an option for you as they have fewer side effects and seem to be more effective than the older NSAID's. Just a thought. methotrexate is used for resistant cases, so I hope you can get by with out it.. I hope you find the right balance between rest and exercise soon it does make a huge difference. I wish you the best of luck and I'll be watching to see how things are going. take care and keep your chin up.

Re: TG\'s Log...Building a Better Booty, Booty, B-B-B-B Booty!
I'm so sad, because I think I'm going to abandon this log. I had two fairly good days this week, but the past three days have been bad I WILL start a new log when I can get back to the gym. I am still going to work with Craig, because he is awesome and I was seeing great results with his program. See you all around soon
