I lived there as a kid (Glascow, eastern Montana). I also backpacked a few years back just north of Yellowstone. I've been to Glacier, many moons ago, and would like to get Lisa there before all the glaciers melt.

Wow! Two in one day! After work I did an 11.5 road ride averaging 19.8 mph for the entire ride including warm up, slower pedestrian areas and the turnaround with no group for drafting. Wind was not a factor as it was out and back. I was pushing at the end for a 20 mph average at one point holding 25.5 mph for about a mile. Not too bad considering I haven't been riding much this year.

3 X 30 bicycle cruches (15 each leg count)
3 X 10 push-ups (yeah, weak but I'm just starting on this)

Ahhhhhhh!!! Backwards! I hate going backwards! I should progress every single day! Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that. 1 mile hilly run - 9:12. I was really hoping to break 9:00 today, maybe tomorrow.

3x10 on push-ups isn't as good as some of the guys here, sure. But scew it, 3 x10 is a lot better than 90% of the population AND you're just starting.

On the weightloss show I was watching the trainer guy had the girl doing "Mountain Climbers" You should try those out, they are pretty fun as well!

This seems to be the best description and pic I can find quickly....I know CB has them somewhere...

This does not mean I think you are a special olympian, not that there is anything wrong with that.....

Yeah, I've never been much of an upper body guy. My strength is in my legs which is why I like mountain biking so much. In high school I was embarassed to touch any upper body stuff on the universal machine but I could leg press the rack.

To console myself I always try to point out the lack of definition on some bodybuilders below the waist.

ODB,
I agree with OG on this. The improvements will come fast. You are just starting out. With all the biking, you have good stamina and endurance, so keep at it. I took one month and did a self imposed push-up improvement program. By the end of the month I had made great strides. Now I routinely do sets of 40-45 with legs elevated. I don't think you will have any problems getting the upper body in shape.

I agree with Mahler. I've seen you ride and have no doubt if you focus a bit more on total body workouts your strength will fly.

Great to hear your really enjoying the summer. Is Lisa out there on the trails with you?

3 X 30 bicycle cruches (15 each leg count)
3 X 10 push-ups

Still sore from two days ago. That should end soon enough and I can start moving forward. Eventualy I'll be adding curls to this and other stuff.

Try reverse crunches.

My abs are sore today.

Hilly 1 mile run 9:09. 7 seconds off my best on this course. Short term goal is to get under 9:00 this week.

Followed run with:
3 X 30 bicycle cruches (15 each leg count)
3 X 10 push-ups

I was going to do a ride last night but worked too late.

Hilly 3 mile run 27:55. A personal best on this run. I guess doing the one mile work has helped. I shall alternate on them in the future.

Nothing today. I was going to do a 1 mile sprint but was feeling some tension in my right calf and some laziness in my heart. Maybe I'll get a ride in tomorrow.

Yes, I finally broke 9:00 on my hilly mile. I'm now at 8:57!

3 X 30 bicycle cruches (15 each leg count)
3 X 10 push-ups

Should be adding some push-ups soon.
