Those repeats on Saturday look positively pukalicious.

Sounds neat working in a college environment -- new people, new ideas. Constant flow of new kids. I would think the graduate students tend to be more focused.
Your number on the BSS's are spectacular! That is one hard exercise, especially for 12 reps. Nice workout!

Thanks, Lance. BSS's are torture for sure! I've had to do a lot of them as part of recovery from a running injury last Fall.
I like teaching a lot. I actually haven't been able to do much of it until recently. It's very different to be on the teacher side of things. As a student, I never appreciated how much time it takes to prepare a (hopefully ) decent lecture. And I never realized how much, as a teacher, I would root for the students to do well on exams. I really feel like I haven't done my job when they get stuff wrong, although I know that effort has to come from both the teacher and the student.

MON. 7.30.07
PM RUN
DISTANCE: 6.2 miles
TIME: 47:45
AVE. PACE: 7:42/mile
-- Better than Sunday for sure. Still obnoxiously hot and humid, but I waited until 7pm to run. Not having the sun beating down on me helps. My wife was horrified when I walked back in the house because of all of the gnats plastered all over me. LMAO!!! I even had one in my eye, which was not exactly fun. I tried to redeem myself by showering and strolling around the house in a tank top and short boxers (the kids are still gone you know!), but I don't think it worked.

Hey! Y'all Northern people just don't know what's sexy.
If I ever get my camera fixed, I'm taking a picture of myself post-run.

TUES. 7.31.07
PM RUN
DISTANCE: 8.0 miles
TIME: 62:55
AVE. PACE: 7:52/mile
-- That lower humidity never made it here. I really should be running in the morning. Why do I keep running in the evening? Anybody? Anybody? I used my Nike Frees for this run, and they felt weird. Too spongey.

Same reason any of us nut cases run in the heat. Cause we are commited (or should be), stupid or just plain crazy.

Yep, I'm stupid not to run in the morning when it's 70° and wait until evening when it's 85°-90°!!!

Maybe you run at night because you secretly like the gnats.

Because you're lazy and secretly hate running? That's my reason for not running in the morning.
And only 85-90 in the evening? And I thought you Southerners were tough when it came to the heat. I went on bike errands yesterday evening when it was 95 and high humidity. Uphill both ways.

You say "Meh", but if I have any idea of how bad the heat and humidity is in B-ham compared to here (always worse), you did GREAT! Summer has always been "Meh" season for me.....& I've got it a bit better most of the time.....& I'm right at 8:00 now.

Ralph, we have been a little lucky this year with the temps - not many days above the low 90's. But that just changed, unfortunately. We're supposed to have upper 90's to 100 for several days. But I ran in the AM on Saturday. :p
Egham, we lived in Durham, North Carolina for two years. The Summers are a little more tolerable there. The biggest difference I remember about the climate was the longer Springs and Falls. Of course, I only experienced two of each! But nevertheless, they were really nice, long seasons. We don't have it as bad here, though, as a little further South. Montgomery has hellacious Summers - lots of mid and upper 90's, nasty humidity, etc.
I have a spot between a couple of toes that ain't feelin' too good this morning. It felt worse yesterday after my run, but I think I should postpone my Saturday speedwork. Hopefully I can get my Sunday run done tomorrow. I'm not cancelling my date with Alwyn though.
