Today was a good workout. 8 reps x 3 sets 60 sec rest period.
incline bb bench: 180. I was kinda surprised to be able to do this much. Although the last set I only managed 6.
chinups: body weight plus 70 lbs. strapped on.
db front raises: 25's..hmmm that was easy.? 35's not bad, good pump. Wow I look wide may have to bump this up next week
ass scrap'n on the floor sumo squats: 160 that was way too easy. Need to go higher next time. Surprised myself with how easy. Hmm. I must be getting stronger.
close grip bench: 160 this was too light also. good pump but I could have done more.
preacher curls: 80 that was pretty hard but I did 'em.
That Chad Waterbury and John Berardi know their shit. I'm hear to tell you. If I could become a spokesperson for them... let me tell you. I hope to one day meet them in person and tell them how fucking awesome they are. JP? 2006 retreat speakers???? hint, hint, nudge, nudge.
Wow, you're on fire tonight. Just look at all that grinning and all those big numbers. Awesome job!

GR..I think you are their spokesperson already. I think it's awesome to give them credit. Don't forget to give it to yourself too..you are the one sticking to it You are doing awesome!!! Look at those numbers..wow! Very proud of you
Thanks for the post MaryKaa. If I can be of assistance in any way, just let me know.
Today's workout was 12 reps x 3 sets. 90 sec rest period. About medium/heavy weights. The reason I say that is because I notice what I now call my medium weight is what used to be my fairly heavy weight.
bb shrugs: 200 lbs
flat bb bench: 160 just about perfect for 12 reps
sumo deads: 160 also just about perfect for the reps
good mornings: 60 I could definitely have gone higher here. mental note.
cable crossovers: a 45lb plate each side. Let me explain, this is a homemade cable crossover so only one pulley and not stacks. I've made it so I just hook up plates and go to it. hard to picture, I know. Felt a really good pump.
behind the head db press: 55lb on the first set, 65 on the last two.
Your numbers just keep going up and up (just like your calories, no? ). Amazing work, GR!

Thanks RB! Always anxious to jump in here when I see you (or anyone for that matter) has taken the time to look me up and see how I'm doing. Good motivation.
Although, I must confess... I'm really starting to get worried about hitting my 220 lb goal by the end of the year. I've 11 weeks and 30 lbs to go. (Yes, I DID hit the 190 mark ) that figures out to 2.7+ lbs a week now. Yeeikes! I'm at a loss of how to possibly get anymore calories in the day. It just doesnt seem humanly possible anymore. This is getting really, really expensive. Bless my wife, my love, she understands me and supports me without question. I couldnt ask for a better partner in life. I am very lucky.
No, seriously, GR, congrats on your progress so far. I've not been posting much to your log but have been following it and your journey is very inspiring. And don't worry about not making 220 by year-end. I have every confidence you will in the end. If it's in January or February, who really gives a flying f***? You're well on your way and moving forward day by day. That must feel great.
As for your wife, count your blessings. There's nothing like the support of a devoted partner. Lucky you.

One thing I learned in my years of fat loss: don't live by the scale. There are so many variables to effect your weight, and you can't control them all.
Also, your body tends not to gain weight steadily. Just as it's constantly adapting to your lifting, it's adapting to what you eat and how much of eat you're eating.
I say "don't sweat it." At least for a week or two. But, you can always go back to MER and use JB's flowchart to adjust your calories up even more if you progress stalls.
I actually weighed myself today which is my normal time of the week and I'm 192.5 !!! woo hoo!!
You're absolutely right LD, seems my body will do nothing, do nothing, then wham, 5 lb jump.

I love reading love stories.. I'm sure she is very lucky too.
and keep faith in your training and dieting you're treating your body well, it will treat you well.
Wow... 192.5. You outweigh me by 12 pounds now. Guess I better watch my step around you.
Congratulations on the gains!

Thanks for checking in everyone! Nope, you never have to watch your step around me RB....you're my friend.
MaryKaa - you have no idea how much we support each other. She's my best friend.
Had a really good workout this evening.
18 reps x 3 sets (up an extra set from last week) 120 sec rest.
SLDL: 120 lbs up 10lbs
db lunges: 40's - didnt think I could go up in weight since last week was such a challenge. However, while it was hard, I managed 3 sets and think the next time I could go up.
military press: 80 lbs. up 10 from last week
decline db press: 50's up 5's ea
db curls: 30's - up 5lbs ea wow.. 18 of these and my arms were ready to explode.
rope pressdowns: 50lbs up 10 lbs. I think I could have went a tad higher, but still, incredible pump.
Upped the weight yet again! You're like a machine... food goes in, more weight gets moved. You're obviously doing something right! Amazing job.

MaryKaa - she does train with weights and cardio but no sports. Thanks for checking in.
RB - I'm kind of amazing myself. I know that sounds igotistical, but you all know me well enough by now to know that's not me. I really am amazed. It's crazy when you feed your body what it can do.
Hey, you went up in 50% of your lifts. That's something to be proud of!
You're doing a great job!

That's what I love about this place. Even on a "not-so-good" day there is always someone out there to pick you up and set you straight again. You guys are the best!
ah, those 95's aren't anything. I did 12 reps and barely felt anything. Unfortunately that's as high as my db's go. But I wanted a slight different way of doing them vs. the bb that I always use and I had just done seated ones the other night. When I do db's I'm able to adjust the direction my toes face easier than with bb.
Yesterday was supposed to have been a workout day, however my allergies have been driving me nuts. I couldnt get my air yesterday and I was so tired from not sleeping very well the night before so......... if it's one thing I've learned over the years of working out, it's to listen to my body. I skipped my workout. It was a good day to do so because today is my normal off day and so that gives me two days to fully recover. I fell asleep about 8:30. I must have needed it pretty bad.
This Sunday is measurement time again. However I was noticing last night as I was changing clothes from work that my legs looked really big. And for me to say that they must have because as we all are, I'm my own worst critic. I had to take a measurement a couple days early. VERY pleased. I've really been concentrating on them this past two weeks because at last measurement they hadnt grown.
I won't list the measurement yet, but let's just say I surprised the hell out of myself. You know that feeling when you look at the scale or bf caliper or tape measure and say, "that can't be right" and then do it again? yeah, that was me last night. Did my arms too and had the same feeling. Wow. Something can't be right. hahahahahahaha
Anyway, like I said, today is recovery and tomorrow is abs, calves, forearms again. I'll post more in here tomorrow night.
thanks for following along with me.
