:p You wouldn't be if you had been watching..:p
Talk about checking the ego at the door. You just have to wonder who might be stairing at you while you STRUGGLE to do military presses with 65#
It is brutal. I can see how it is probably very effective for fat loss. Despite the fact that I am in fat loss mode, I probably wont be wedging this one in too often. I swim on my off days from lifting so this took the place of a lift day and I feel like I need to be lifting as heavy as possible..or at least in the 5rep range to keep my muscle while in caloric deficit. I think if I performed this one regularly during this period I'm afraid of losing muscle. Think I'm right? or no..?

Good workout! And congrats on the shrinking waist - it's a great feeling!

thanks. Better feeling..I was visiting my older son in the hospital when his new doctor came in and asked if I was his brother. He looked me up and down when he learned I was the dad and said "good muscles" (I don't think English was his first language but I appreciated the point he made) Gotta love it.

This one is not an ego booster. I was more worried about who was watching me struggle with calf raises with 65#. No matter how ugly it was, you made it through 3 rounds and I'm still impressed.
I agree with you about fitting this into your routine. It doesn't really fit into your schedule right now. With all the swimming you are doing you should use your lifting days to lift heavy and make it count.
Your story reminds me of the time I went to donate blood with my mother. One of the nurses thought I was her husband. Needless to say, it made her day, and she still tells people about it. So I can image how good it made you feel. Whatever you are doing seems to be working, so keep it up.

SS
Squats
4x8x135 (with emphesis on speed)
1x4x135 (Front Squat)
EZ Bar Curl
4x8x65 (emphesis on speed)
BB Bench
5x8x135
Seated DB Press
1x15x20
1x10x30
1x8x40
DB BO Rows
1x15x30
1x10x40
1x8x50
Had that shakey, quivering thing going on at the end of this session. Looked like a wet dog in winter time.:p
I kept my weight on the squats and bench at a constant 135 this session and really focused on form and speed. Looking for quality lifts today and got them.
My weight has platued. I need to re-focus on the diet. I had a few days over the last week where I "fell off the low carb wagon" and ate sh*t..
I'll be starting full force again on Monday with a different spin. My last months efforts were fairly consistent. I averaged 80 carbs with total of 2200 calories a day. I'm going to go half that on carbs for a couple of weeks and up my fat intake. I'll try and hit 1g protien per pound body weight. This last month I was actually hitting 1-1.5g protien per pound bw and was a bit low on fat several days. Based on what I'm reading, I need to re-train my body to use fat as fuel. My last approach was actually working against me on retaining muscle because of the high protien, low fat, low carb. I probably wasted some precious muscle forcing my body to burn protien instead of fat. Mistake.
So I'm giving myself a few days of relaxing. The wife wants to do margaritas and mexican this weekend so I wouldn't want to dissappoint anyone. Olay!
I'll be PLANNING each days meals the day before this time around too. NO MORE logging after the fact. Taking out some of the guess work I have been doing.

Nice to see you adding front squats to the mix. And very impressive numbers on the dips the other day.
Sounds like you have a solid plan for your diet. Enjoy your mexican this weekend and get back on track starting Monday.

Yeah, I know those front squats are good for me since I set at the desk all day...but I don't exactly enjoy doing them. But I forced myself to do a few anyway.
On the dips..I think I was pissed knowing I had to drive back home before work.:p

Keep forcing yourself and you will learn to love front squats. For me it became a challenge. It was getting hard for me to add much weight to my back squat, but i had plenty of room to grow on front squats just by learning the proper technique. Look back through my or Frank S' log to see our struggles with them.

Good advice. I'll force myself if I ever get back to the gym. I have a son in the hospital, and I twisted a knee practicin softball on Friday.
Between the 2, I haven't managed to get my arse back to the gym.
PS - The son is 25 years old..has immune deficiency disease called Chronic Grandulomidus Disease. (CGD) very rare.
Anyway, he is in and out all his life fighting infections of various types. We think he is close to getting out again.
I miss the gym, but missing the sleep more. Too much stress. You know how it goes.
Top of that..wife is passing a kidney stone.
When it rains...

Thanks so much guys. Things are actually looking up. Wife is feeling better and son too. Son may be out in a day or two!
So it's all good. Now if I could just stop the AGING process so I wouldn't be injuring myself just playing softball..sheesh.
