Because if I change too many variables at once, I won't know which one works. That's me - very methodical.
My father and I were talking about Gandhi last night - about how he got Christians, Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs to work together despite incredible religious tension in the Indian subcontinent. Looked up a page with a bunch of his quotes and I'll probably change to another one every few days. A lot of the quotes are pretty thought provoking. The talk came up in reference to Iraq and Harvard's Samuel Huntington and his ideas on 'Clash of Civilizations' that seems to hold sway over many of those in our current government. Interestingly, I did not realize that Martin Luther King got his ideas of non-violent protest from Gandhi.

Intervals
Spin class; the tall blonde instructor wasn't there again. Our Tuesday instructor was. Tough class. I worked HARD and tried not to let up.
Diet
RMR: 1,480 kcals
Exercise: 657 kcals
Food: 1,520
Deficit: 617 kcals
55%C/31%P/14%F of which an astonishly low 2% of total was saturated.
What can I say today? Gotta do what I gotta do. I get on the scale again tomorrow.

Thanks Chris. To you and yours as well. Cold today in the midwest, huh?
On the positive side, I did see some movement in the scale. Saw a sub 180 lb number for the first time in a long time. Of course, I discount the daily readings that I take, looking for the long term trend, but if this number can hold, that means that it is working and I have lost about 1.5 to 2 lbs in the last 10 days (since I started using the new RMR number)
After a business teleconference, I am heading over to the gym this morning so that I can get my workout in before they close at 3PM.

Our house is pretty new (less than 3 years) and it is terribly drafty - you can feel the breeze coming in the window and door cracks.
I probably consume four or five packets of Splenda a day (tea, yogurt, cottage cheese) - I hope they don't find out something negative about it in the future. I've never taken an artificial sweetener regularly before.

I'm right there with you on the sweeteners and who knows what they'll say about it. It's rare I use it, but a little now to save calories is worth it (I hope) in the short run. You sweeten your cottage cheese? I like my yogurt and cottage cheese tart. And oatmeal plain. Hot tea sweet but cold tea not

My Name is C
By Dr. Suess
I like my yogurt and cottage cheese tart.
They make me gassy, they make me fart.
Oatmeal must be plain, not sweet.
I do not like it cold, give it some heat.
Hot tea sweet, but cold tea not.
A little Splenda please; not a lot.
One chinup, two chinups,
Three chinups, four.
Get the camera rolling,
I might do one more.
For my body, I work out at JPs,
The one with the great abs, that me - C.
For my new body, my thanks go to Craig.
When it comes to guys, I'll never have to beg.
I like my yogurt and cottage cheese tart.
My name is C and I've got lotsa heart.

Resistance Training
BOM, Intermediate Weeks 4-6 A. Biceps and Lats. For every set execpt one, I hit my rep number without failure. What you are supposed to do in the last week of a King microphase.
HIIT
C's posting of her progress pictures got me motivated to get my ass into gear. Thanks C! Ran suicide sprints on the basketball court at what I would consider a '9' per Craig's discussion in Capp's thread. In other words, I didn't sprint as hard as I could. Oonly 5 reps of appx 20 seconds on, 60 seconds walking rest. My heart rate got over 190 right after the last one. I'm happy that my max is still close to 200 (used to be 204 a few years ago). I only did 5 - didn't want to exacerbate a problem with one of the 'deep six' muscles in my ass that I've had now for 6 years. I need to go see Bill Hartman about it - it's getting worse.
Diet
RMR: 1,480
Exercise: 420
Food appx. 1,780
Deficit: 120
No macro breakdown today.
C: can't stand unsweetened yogurt or cottage cheese. Ugh. For cottage cheese, I put in Splenda and cinnamon. Makes it palatable to me.

Wooo - hoooo! Had to quickly get get online to note this - it dropped again. According to the scale, I am now down 5 lbs since I started and about 3.5 since I changed the diet 11 days ago. BF is down too - loss of 5 lbs is about 1.9 lbs LBM and 3.1 lbs fat.
Moving in the right direction now! Finally.

Kaiser,
Glad to see that the scale is down for you. Hope it stays down for you. A few years back I was up at 220 (lots of fat from sitting in front of a computer) so one of my goals for that year was go below 180. Took a lot of miles (2600 if I remember) on the road bike to get there, but I did (175 actually). Then people thought I was to skinny! I couldn't win. Now I'm trying to put on muscle and the weights going back up...not sure if I like that, but I do like the extra muscle. Now if I could also lose the stomach fat!
And yes it's cold in the Quad Cities...UGH...I'm ready for some warmer weather, so snow and crazy drivers who leave their snow driving manuals at home.
Happy holidays.

Thanks C and C.
Chris (the guy), you ride about the same as I do in a summer (this summer about 2,000 miles). What kind of ride do you have? Post some pics in the biking subforum in the thread called "Me and My Bike". Wait until next Thursday and Friday. Supposed to be in the upper 50s! I might blow off the spin class and take the mountain bike out that day.
Capp, did you have a good holiday with your family? Did they comment on your new physique, or have they seen it before? Did you get any fitness related gifts? In the past, my wife and kids would always get me stuff like Dri-Fit shirts as gifts. They knew what I needed!
Christmas Day.
No logging. No workout.
