oooooo have fun skiing!
I had on black capri pants the other day...but today was my off day . Wonder if you do actually meet me when you're here for the retreat if you'll still think she looks like me
how many meals are you eating? 3 @ 500? I'd shoot for at least 4.

Intervals
Spin class; the tall blonde instructor wasn't there. Our Tuesday instructor was. Alternated between long hard out of the saddle climbs and very short intervals at full burst (sets of 5 secs on/5 off, sets of 15 on/15 off, sets of 15 on/30 off, sets of 20 on, 10 off). Lots of intervals. Felt strong - I am too efficient at cycling now. Once again, I was racing on the sprints with the girl mentioned before. She didn't seem to have the energy today and had to leave early for a dinner with her friend.
Diet
RMR: 1,480 kcals
Exercise: 657 kcals
Food: ~1,667 kcals (still have 200 kcals to eat)
Deficit: 470 kcals
39%C/22%P/39%F of which 10% of total was saturated (big burger at lunch)
No comments today. I'm hungry.

-Used to ski 25 days, a good amount of them out west. Then we had kids. Last year we had a big trip planned to Vail and then ended up buying a new house, so that went bye-bye. I miss skiing. Only going to a Wisconsin hill about 4 hours away, but I'm stoked. Was a pretty good skiier - wonder if I've forgotten or if it is like riding a bike.
-It'll be fun to meet with you and just hang. Since I'll be staying extra days, we can grab a meal together - and talk business. Or maybe we can cajole JP or Joe into taking us to a climbing gym.
-Here's my rough breakdown:
Breakfast: 350 kcals
Snack 1: 150 or none
Lunch: 400 or 450 kcals
Snack 2: 200 or 250 kcals
Dinner: 450 or 550 kcals
Total: 1,550 kcals.
I bet the numbers will be low, and I'll lose weight quickly, but I'm giving it a week or two before I adjust my intake upwards slightly.

I've only skiid twice-once in France(Val d'Isere) after the Albertville olympics and once in Breckenridge. Have been itching to go again.
Did JP ever set a date? Normally I'm around but it would help to know. Would be fun to hang out a bit. I actually would like to meet Sarah too. She seemed really cool from reading her posts.
Careful about your timing of the low cals since that places you semi-deprived just before Christmas I think though you'll only be hungry for a few days then you sorta get used to it.

Val D'isere? Very cool! I've actually been to a whole host of places out west, but never to Europe.
CO
-Vail (5X)
-Beaver Creek (4X)
-Winter Park
-Keystone
-Telluride
NV
-Squaw Valley
-Northstar
UT
-Alta (2X)
-Snowbird
CA
-Big Bear
And of course locally in WI and MI. Still on my list: Whistler/Blackcomb (Canada), Heavenly (CA/NV), and maybe Aspen (CO). Vail and Beaver Creek are still my favorites.
Sorry, the list above was more for me to try to remember where I've been; I'm sure I've forgotten something. Never skiied in the East Coast - if I want to ski on ice, I can stay in the midwest!
Can you tell I used to LOVE skiing?
JP hasn't set a date that I know of.
I made it through the night OK; the hunger passed after I ate an apple (fiber) and a half of handful of almonds. But here's the crappy thing: this morning, my weight went down (yipeee), but my BF% was at an all-time high. I know, I know - it's only one reading and it could be influenced by a variety of factors, but just once I'd like to see that damn BF% go down.

Resistance Training
BOM, Intermediate Weeks 4-6 A. Biceps and Lats. I'm starting to see a peak again on the biceps. Bye-bye pooped, hello peaked.
HIIT
In my consult with the CSCS, she said I should knock of the HIIT on Friday night if I am going to do bootcamp on Saturday morning. As per her suggestion, I worked with balance propioception (sp?) - me and a BOSU doing one-legged stuff.
Diet
RMR: 1,480
Exercise: 204
Food ~1,800 to 1,900
Surplus : 116 to 216
Had to go to a wedding reception (over 700 people! Indian weddings, go figure) and while I was good on what I ate, chicken and beef kabobs with just a tiny bit of rice, I don't have exact numbers because lugging my kitchen scale to the reception would've been just plain rude. So no exact numbers or macronutrient breakdown. But I know I wasn't full after I ate - I was still hungry when we got home after midnight.

Resistance Training/Intervals
Boot camp class was taught by a sub today, which meant it wasn't what I was looking for. Very hard, but a lot of high rep reistance work with low weight (aka - with all due respect to the women here - 'chick toning').
It was brutal, but very little in the way of running till my heart was going to pop out of my chest. A lot of squats, again. A lot of calorie burn again. And funny that when we are doing things in time to a beat, the guys look like complete morons, and the women are smooth. I wonder why that alsways seems to be the case. Also, if I could generalize a bit more, it seems women are built for endurance reps... guys for the short haul. Surprise, surprise.
All of the legwork is not going to be good for my next couple of days of skiiing.
Diet
RMR: 1,480
Exercise: 581
Food 1,741
Deficit: 320

I'll help you get to the next page.
Are you going to do some interval skiing?
Are those chicks in the class toned?
Feeling better about your diet? You didn't say whether you were hungry or not.

Wow. I've never seen so few words. You must be tired.
You could have at least put a few spaces between each sentence.
Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite

Tuesday, December 21st
Got back from my mini-vacation at about 4PM. Headed to the gym at 5 for a spin class. No food data though. Ate a ton of carbs during the trip, definitely did not eat clean.
Shape skis are the most awesome invention for skiiing since releasable bindings! Haven't been on the sticks in 7 years, but I was carving it up like I used to then (advanced skiier back in the day: Vail's ski school had me at a level 7 out of 9 total, and level 8 is a mogul specialist and level 9 is rock solid backcountry/extreme skiier).
There are a lot of fat people who are unashamed of being fat. Or maybe waterparks are where fat people congregate. I'll post a separate thread later, but I am apalled at the lack of stigma attached to being very overweight or obese, and to the pure percentages of people who are. It's downright depressing.

Kaiser! You're back!!! We missed you! I even made my food confessions in your absence
Sounds like you had fun! Don't know what shape skis are. Did you spend more time on the slopes than you did eating carbs? If so I'm sure it balanced out.

Thanks C. Who's 'we'? I'm exhausted.
Shape skis are kind of like you: narrow waist, wider at the top and bottom. Easier to turn. The revolution in skiing is kind of like what oversize composite raquets did to tennis.
It was freaking freezing the first day, and still not great yesterday. When we were on the slopes on Sunday, the temps were in the low single digits, and wind put it into the negatives. Full coverage on that day. Yesterday was warmer (it got up to 14!), but very windy, so the chills were still below 0. I've skiied in worse, but had to adjust.
That being said, I REALLY miss the slopes. Used to get a ton of days in, a good part out west, but since the kids, nada. I mean, I literally used to dream about making runs. Luckily, both of the boys seem to be naturals....we had them in classes both days and they were incredibly good (if I do say so myself - luckily though, it was the instructors who said that).

BTW, posted a pic of me and the kids in 'The Thread' (the monster you created C). I look tired in that pic too. Need a vacation to recover from the vacation.

I knew you were going to say that. Gobbla apparently missed you too
You'll make it back again, especially now the boys are naturals (like their dad, I'm sure)
Off to check the photos in THE thread.
