I'd never vote you out Cap.

Aerobic
And I do mean aerobic. Skipped out after lunch and grabbed a recovery ride - where I keep my pace slow enough that my HR doesn't get up too high. In this ride, it only went above 147bpm on one hill (in this case, between 16 and 19 mph). To put that into perspective, my AT corresponds to somewhere around 167bpm. Did 20 miles... glad I had my tunes because it was slow going! Cool sight seen: a group of about 10 men and women in their 60s and 70s, all decked out in cool cycling duds, out riding. Not fast, but still not bad. That inspired me more than seeing the Cat2 racer with the expensive bike and matching duds who was so serious he doesn't have time for a head nod hello. Knee felt OK for most of the ride and feels OK now, but didn't really push it.

Inner hammies were sore from squats and deads yesterday, so I'm sure the ride will help.

Diet
RMR 1480
Exercise 945 (Polar estimate -prolly lower)
Diet 1595 kcals
Deficit 830

36% P (142 grams) / 24%C (103 grams)/ 40% F (69 grams) of which 9% of total was saturated.

The gram numbers are for Craig's comparisons. We are having a little trouble agreeing on kcal intake. But he wants me to be at a 35/35/30 macro breakdown.

Ah, a post about your workout. A bike ride in warm weather sounds like fun. I'll be working those in on the weekends soon too. But for me a long one is 25miles.

I hope the disagreement on kcal intake is having you eat more. I still think you would have less treats if you were getting enough quality calories. Of course you still want the treats, but you don't find it as necessary to dive for them. When I was eating 1300 kcals and then bumped up to 1700, I immediately lost 4lbs. Weird... Now I see I'm eating as much as some of these guys who are obviously bigger than me...thinking about a cutting diet.

Yep, Craig wants me to eat 2000 kcals, and I say the current 1500 to 1600. After I begin his workouts, I may cautiously creep it up to 1700-1800 and see what happens. But when I was at 2000 for six weeks (if you recall), there was no weight loss (or fat loss) at all. That's what prompted me to get my RMR tested, and that;s the variable that is now known with certainty in my case that usually isn't. Hence my reluctance. But we'll see.

You're right about one thing...if I can limit my 'cheat'/non-logging days, where I eat more and obviously my average is higher for the week than 1600, then maybe it is worth it. But right now those cheat days have me stalled, so maybe those are maintenance kcals for me.

Cappy, I have to get in the fan club somewhere too.

K - I went on a recovery ride yesterday, but my body just was not feeling it, kind of what you were talking about. I couldn't get up above 16 or 17 mph and hold it for more than a few minutes for the life of me. Then I just got mad b/c I felt like I was wasting a good 70 degree day by being a pansy. Oh well, I'll have to make up for it this weekend. Speaking of, I might be in Chicago for business at the end of July, if I am, I'll bring my bike and we should go for a ride. You'll kill me, but that's okay, I'm just a newb...

I'm glad you're doing TT as well. You'll really like it. I had a ton of success with his program, and I think it helps even more that you've been talking with him. I'll be checking in here daily, or more than that depedning on how boring work is!

so maybe if you get your maintenace kcals without the cheats, you'll go a lot further. Also psycholocially, you might be less inclined to cheat when you're already eating more. (i.e. those 400kcals of cookies will push me to 2400 vs 2000).

Ever thought about logging your cheat days for an idea of the damage? I'll estimate on meals out, etc. And of course those chips and cookies and chocolates have labels. Even weighed those things and then logged it....

And you were basically inactive the last time you had your rmr tested, right? Could've changed. PLUS if it's not working for you now, how about a change again.

ok...enough crap from me.

Emartin...you're in the club for sure..wanna be an officer? I need a girl to join so we can share favorite CB exercise pose pics.

I've always wondered how the hell his RMR was less than 1500. He's a healthy normal weight 30 something male.

Hey Ninja, I wondered the same thing.

Hey Eric, thanks for checking. More faces = more accountability. Virtual training partners in a way. 16-19 mph was my recovery ride too. I maybe could have gone a mph faster, but not more than that. I was also chomping at the bit to do something, Luckily no one passed me, which is always an ego-check on recovery days.

Capp, the reaon I have cheat days that are unplanned is because I get something I eat that I can't break down into component parts (or it is too hard to do so). Then when I stop, total lack of accountability (hey, I used that word twice in one post). That's my problem. Sad to say, now that Craig is going to be watching, and I spent as much as I did for the program, I fear cheating.

When I last tested my RMR, I was active for the previous 6 weeks, so that was not the issue. If it had increased significantly, I'd have consistent weight loss to show for it. I don't.

Well, I am going for a new log (I'm sorry Nick). Will possibly post tonight, late, but got some stuff to do now. Thank y'all for reading and for your support. I don't say it often, but I do appreciate it.

Now I definitely need to get a new log.

Maybe when I get a six pack.

I wonder if the cheat days went overboard because you had been "starving" yourself on the other days. I can go for five or six days in a nice deficit, and then BLAM, here comes a day of overeating. Come Monday, I'm not going to allow myself any cheat days the rest of the semester (May 10). That will be real hard.

You're funny ninja. Maybe the new log will get you a six pack??

I'm with you on the cheat days. Deprivation=craving=binge

I allow small/moderate cheats all the time, so I don't feel really deprived. When I eat out, I look for the health(ier) choices, but I know it's not as good as if I had made it. Nor do I really know the macros...just kinda estimate.

And I won't give up my chocolates...just a little bit here and there. (too much here and there lately, but that's a girl thing.

Figure I have to go with what is sustainable...
