hello boys, how y'all doing???
thanks for all the extra commentary Kaiser, it was a great read. Glad to hear you only have a sprain and your knee is better, and are kicked back into eating clean. So what's your goal for the retreat gonna be?
Ninja, you mean you don't look like your avatar??

Hello lady. I'm OK.
That's all the response to all of that drama, mama? Hmmm, mental note to self: don't put in the effort next time. (J/K)
My goal for the retreat? I think it can be seen on the bottom of page 1 of this thread. Actually, there's no way I'm gonna look like those two, so I'll settle for a flat (or flatter) if not ripped stomach. Numerically speaking, my goal is still the same: around 167-168 lbs. and a proper amount of BF.
Nick, just how heavy and tall are you? BTW, your ND avatar is weird - it is popping right outta it's box. That look (Napoleon D) is becoming popular (?) - I saw 2 HS kids at the gym who could have been him.

hmmm, guess I should have posted my elaborate response to all your commentary AFTER I posted my report in MY log...guess all this interval work has made my responses faster too. I'll retest this theory on my long run day.

I go upstairs to watch basketball and the fun happens.
I'm about 6-1, and 200, depending on what scale I'm on.
I'll take some pictures tomorrow, and it's safe to say Capp that I look nothing like napoleon. I have sideburns and I refuse to grow my hair out, plus it's a lot darker.

So the short version then. BTW, where's the pics Nicks?
Friday, March 25th
Resistance
Back after a 2 week layoff due to injury and vacation. TBOM, Int Weeks 15-17, A. Pullups and Bent over BB rows, + a little extra bicep work. Didn't do too well with reps. Was really mad when I couldn't get past 5 pullups in any set (regression) and then failed in my bent over BB rows because my biceps were fried. So afterwards, I took a page from Cap's workout and did extra work: 5 reps of 5 sec eccentric pull-ups, or as I call them 'let-downs'. I'm still fuming about my failure in the pullups. I didn't want to go to the gym to lift today, and maybe it showed. And I was so proud that I took baby steps (get upstairs, get changed, get your bag ready, go) to get out the door and to the gym....
Diet
RMR 1480
Exercise 464
Food 1724
Deficit 220
38% P / 28% C / 34% F of which 8% of total was saturated. Was really good until we watched 2 movies this evening and I gave in and hit the fridge for a cold Hersehy's chocolate bar with almonds. That added 230 kcals and a lot of fat. Otherwise, I would have been at 450 kcal deficit and my macro profile would be better.

Saturday, March 26th
Spin class. Was so proud I got my ass up out of bed this morning andf worked very hard.
Diet. Not so proud of the fact the I stopped logging after my second samosa (potato filled fried yummy Indian snack). Oh well, a 'cheat' day. Major diet-al infidelity.
Yay. It got up to 44 degrees today! Felt almost like spring! Bought my son a new bike - they grow up so fast.

They're coming. I had no one to take them last night, I'll see if I can do it myself tonight, or I'll get my brother to do it.
Illinois is trying to blow this game as I type.

Superspeedy update.
Sunday, March 27th
Rest day. No food logging. Ate 2 doughnuts.
Monday, March 28th
The Ice Age in Chicago Has Ended! Or at least receded until Thursday. Took advantage of temps in the upper 50s and got out early and rode a quick 25 miles on my road bike. First time this season. Ran into a riding buddy and old (read, from junior high) friend and we rode and talked. For me to sustain speeds below last year, my HR was through the freakin roof! Most of the time it was anaerobic, above 170 bpm. Crazy. Hopefully my body will adapt or it will be a LONG season. Luckily, my lgs didn't feel tired at all from the effort, which is a good sign.
Had fun - got it up to 28 mph on the flats for a bit - fun seeing cars going by you at 35 mph and the look they have on their faces when you are moving that fast under your own power.
Thus begins anew the struggle for my heart and training time....
No food logging. Ate OK. Had 2 doughnuts again, but probably burned 1600+ kcals riding, so it'll all be good.

I saw 'em but didn't really care about your fat level as much as matching face with a name. Creative use of flash to hide your mug. Cappy would be proud.
Anyway, you look to have as much fat as me...maybe a bit more. Nothing a good dietary deficit won't fix (hey, when I say it that way, it sounds so easy! )

I know. I'm going to put a chart up on my wall to log the days until the retreat.
HAHAHA. The camera wasn't so much to hide my face, but it was the only way I knew how to take a picture myself. In fact, I'll link up a picture of myself now.

Hey Kaiser, I'm getting more exercise on my vacation that you are during your work week. What's up with that?? I haven't had any donuts either, although I did find some dark chocolates and a cookie when I checked into the hotel.
How'd you like the letdowns? JP says I should do them for 30 secs, but I think that's a bit much!!
Off to check out Nick's pics.

That's why you are as fit as you are and me, well, I'm not so fit. Dietary discipline. I'm still working out.

Honestly, not much. Seems like I could get a better arm workout by climbing up and then down. But I was mad and wanted to do something, so..... 30 seconds seems like it would make my tendons hurt.
While my injured knee felt perfect during my ride, it didn't feel so good before bed last night and this morning. Some pain when I walk, a little swelling. If I can't ride, that's it... I'd be done because I can't continue my caloric output like I do without running/walking/riding/lifting legs.

Yeah, watch those knees, they are quite important. What about the elliptical? I know it's not as fun, but perhaps not force bearing while you rehab???
I see a spark of sun so I need to get my rear outside and hit these hills.

Hills? Where are you? Aren't you in NYC?
Elliptical: tried to do my general warm up on it today. No go - it hurt. Knee got worse throughout the day.
Tuesday, March 29th
Resistance
TBOM, 15-17 Workout C, Chest, Shoulders, Triceps, Abs. Skipped workout B ('Legs') because of the knee. Had a bad lifting day - failed or went close to failure on most sets and didn't even lift as well as last time I did this workout. Don't know why. It happens, I guess.
Diet
RMR 1480
Lifting 464
Food 1434
Deficit 510
40% P / 40% C / 20% F of which only 2% (yes, 2%!!) of total was saturated.
Comments
There was a huge (but short) bodybuilder type dude at the gym today - everyone was looking at him. I was trying to figure out if this guy was natural or used gear because the telltale signs (overdeveloped traps and shoulders) were there. But it was in proportion to everything else (well, maybe the traps were a little bigger). What I determined is that I have no freakin' idea how to look for someone who is juiced. This guy had a 30"waist and probably a 50" chest. His BF was VERY low.
My knee is not good. I'm thoroughly bummed. I was ready to contact Craig to get a TT program for these last stubborn 10 lbs. but now, I don't think the best trainer in the world can work with a gimp.
