Hey, K. get some good rest...you can always schedule shuffle to get your workouts in.
You're making me want a HR monitor too.
I'm logging just to check back in to make sure I'm not over/under doing it. You know, actually knowing instead of wondering helps quite a bit.
You should leave your pic, no need to be embarrased! You can really tell the progress you've made. Give it a week and you'll forget it's there.
No need to miss the old thread, there's a new one!

Tuesday, February 8th
Well, I decided to follow C's advice and took the day off. Despite the fact I felt really bad last night, I still stayed up late - conversing with a friend on the phone (hey, it's better than conversing on the forum, at least!). I felt better when I woke up, but still not quite whole, which leads me to believe it was CNS overtraining that was just beginning.
So I headed home and relaxed; I ate well, probably at maintenance. Gonna go watch a movie now and maybe log some more thoughts later.

I should have rested too. Instead did HIIT even though I couldn't breathe out my nose. I was feeling better than I was last night, but I could really tell because I was considerably more tired than normal when I hit the 18 minute mark.
Ordered the calipers today, so I should have a handle on my bf% within the week.

Yeah, rest is good. You seem to go a lot of consecutive days without a break.
And definately good to connect with friends if not in person, then on the phone, then on the forum. In that order. Priorities!
good luck with the calipers ninja. They're soo much fun.

Well, just watched 'The Terminal' with Tom Hanks. Not bad, not as great as I had hoped. Good storytelling as usual from Spielberg.
I was planning on climbing today, but I felt with the 90 min spin tomorrow, if it was overtraining, I should take a break. Glad I did... now I feel good. And my last rest day was Friday, so it really isn't that much.
Some friends, on the forum, on the phone, AND in person!

Quick note: my weight has climbed 2 lbs in the last 4 days, BUT, my fat percentage has dropped 1% in the same time period. Hmmmm...

Wedensday, February 9th
Aerobic/Intervals
Got to class a little early so headed over to do a couple chin ups with no warm up. Got in 7 full hang ones, which I was happy with.
90 min spin class - different today in that there was a screen set up in the front and we spun to 2 different concert videos. Bruce Springsteen in 1992 and AC/DC in 1981. We were standing about 75% of the class, which I did not like at all (too much on the achilles). I was digging it, but about 3 songs into AC/DC I was reminded how old I am because the sound level started to hurt my ears. Nonetheless, it was interesting. A lot of climbing, not a lot of sprinting.
Oddly, my HR monitor logged the same amount of kcals burned for this 90 min workout (around 1100) as it did for Monday's 60 minute workout. Guess lack of sprints means lower calorie usage for me.
I went into class feeling kinda still run down/blah and when my new friend Julie (she's the cute one who spins pretty fast - yes, we've gotten to know each other now) left after 60 mins, I was tempted to do the same. But I hung it out and really kinda suffered the last 30 mins.
I am supposed to do deadlifts tomorrow, but I may wait until Friday now.
Diet
Yet ANOTHER day of no logging. Ate like a pig at dinner: thin crust pizza and a really yummy brownie bar from 'The Dessert Gourmet' a local dessert store with the BEST stuff.
Still even with the overeating, I know I was in deficit because of the big kcal burn in exercise.
Comments
-My ears are ringing now from the loudness during spin. Damn, getting old.
-If I look at the number in my post immediately above, that would mean I have gained 1/2 lb of LBM and loss almost 8 of fat. Yay.
-Yet I still have fat around my waist... more pronounced when I look down at it than in the pic on the previous page. However, the self image is improving a bit: a female friend of mine saw the progress pic and said I looked good.
-I don't think I am overtraining - I think I may be sleep deprived. Have been shorting myself 1/2 hour regularly and it may be catching up with me.
-Angus from AC/DC is insane - how he gets that energy and can still play while bouncing around like that is beyond me. The instructor commented that perhaps this wasn't the best video to play on Ash Wednesday - Angus making the devil horns and AC/DC with Highway to Hell and Hell's Bells and, well... most of their stuff!

Wowee, those 90 min spin classes are looong. I'm starting to realize with my 36min of sprints that it's been a while since I've done much endurance work. Even though you're sprinting, doing it for that long has got to work your endurance?? The videos sound like fun though.
Cool on the chin-up warm-up. Hard to pass by a spare opportunity, isn't it?
You're seeing progress, hold on to that when you start critcizing yourself and the "fat" around your waist.
You might need extra sleep from all this exercising you're doing! Get your zzzz's

Yep, the long class does it for endurance.
I am seeing the progress, but it is slow. And now my weight loss is in the 'stalled' mode (fits and starts). But, yes, I am holding on to the positive comments I have gotten - esp from my wife and my female friend (who commented that my pic was 'hot'! Thanks - nothing like a comment from a single woman to get you going! )
Well this weekend I'm sleeping in, for what it's worth. My kiddos stayed home from school today with colds and I stayed home to help my wife.
Thursday, February 10th - Lent begins - too bad I'm not Catholic
Workout
1 hour of rock climbing. Was totally motivated after a good class to hit the wall, and then I got there and had no motivation at all. Oh well. Still got in over an hour. My forearms were tired though.
Diet
RMR 1480
Exercise 475
Food 1473
Deficit 482
16%P/ 44%C/ 40% F of which 8% of total is saturated.
Good overall kcals but piss poor macro breakdown. What happens when you don't plan for success.
Comments
None today. Oh yeah.. talked to JP when he seemed a bit preoccupied today. Am getting to be quite the little pest in bothering him to nail down a date for the retreat. Of course, he wouldn't confirm one. JP, if you need help, I'll be willing to pitch in - delegate for success!!

You can always give up something you know.
At least not being Catholic allows you to eat meat on Fridays. It's going to be insanely hard to get some protein these next 5 or 6 Fridays.

Day off. Day off logging
Comments
-Wow. Pants I bought 5 weeks ago are.... loose. Loose enough for me to have to grab a belt for them not to fall off. The belt I grabbed was my smallest that I couldn't even get around my waist in November. Second notch today. Yes, I'm happy, happy. Scale hasn't moved much, but this tells me fat is coming off and LBM is getting put on.
-To my friends who read my log: have a great weekend! Don't get too much sun or drink too much. Enjoy the moment. Don't think too much.
Peace.

Don't you love it when your first set of skinny pants are too big?
Yep and it definately sounds like you're putting on some more muscle
Happy weekend to you too!

I don't see the more muscle though C. I guess it's there, probably in my ass and thighs where I don't need any more mass.
I was in a good mood last night and today Nick.
Saturday, February 12th
Resistance
TBOM, 11-13 Workout C. Chinups and Deadlifts. As mentioned in C's log, neeed to do 8, 6, and 4 chinups in the work sets. Did 7, 5, and 4. Not bad, but compared to the bodyweight + 40 lbs I used to do, or the 14, 12, and 10 reps I used to be able to do, a far cry.
Deads were good. Proceeding cautiously, but at least I am lifting more than my weight with good form. Didn't have any back fatigue at all after deads today --->good form. We'll see if we can keep that when we cross the 200 lb mark next time. Today, I also had a bump on my shin from climbing oon Thursday and it hurt like hell when I lifted the bar against it. Ouch.
Diet
Ugh.. no logging because we had a formal dinner party this evening. Ate a bunch of chicken breasts and beef (and sushi appetizers - yumm). Probably ate more kcals than I wanted to - don't think I was in deficit, but my polar HR monitor tried to tell me I burned 950 kcals with my warmup, cooldown, and lifting. I know that I did burn about 175 with warmup and cooldown, but I seriously doubt I burned another 775 lifting.

Looks like you got your required protein intake though. Better to overeat on that stuff instead of Cheetos.

Sunday, February 13th
Resistance
TBOM, 11-13, Workout A. Squats and Shoulder Presses. Upped my numbers in the shoulder press by about 10 lbs per set. Upped the numbers in the squats by 20 lbs. per lift. Still a long way off where I was, but I was pleasantly surprised by the increase.
Afterwards, cooldown was a jog of 1/2 mile in 5 minutes - probably the longest straight I've run in a year. Even though it was an easy pace, my HR belied the ease of effort while stroking at 159 bpm (I'm still aerobic up to 167). I have to work VERY hard on the bike to keep my HR up that high - shows how efficient I am at cycling and how inefficient at running.
Diet
RMR 1480
Exercise 495
Food 1351
Deficit 624
34%P/ 30%C/ 36%F of which only 5% was saturated. Pretty good day.
Comments
-Good improvement seen today. Especially since (yet again), I did back to back days out of neccessity for schedule. I have to stop doing this to my nervous system.
-C's pics were pretty motivating.
-Confessional: There was an embrassing moment when I was stretching out at the end. There was a Knockout beauty (with a capital K)... incredible shape and beautiful face. Every guy was checking her out doing ab work. Except me - I was stretching and looked up to see her face looking at me (who knows why) - our eyes locked and she didn't look away. After about 2 seconds I HAD to look away. Now, I know she wasn't checking me out, but the eye stare contest was really disconcerting. I'm very self conscious when beauties look at me - I guess I should just smile, huh? Well, I'm just glad I had my wedding ring on. (Enough soap opera for you C? )
