If you can do regular chinups, I think you can do the board pulls. In fact, I'd bet on it. You're strong - don't let your mind tell you otherwise.

You two need to combine your logs into one.

My wife wouldn't care, but JP doesn't allow log cohabitation. I think it's 'cause he's jealous - he's parked his 'ass' over at Capp's log. Territorial demarcation.
Ugghhhh. Confessional time. I ate SOOO poorly yesterday. Bad. For example, for lunch I had a mixed greens salad with 80 kcals of dressing (OK, that's good), but then finished up with 2 slices of cheescake. Then I stuffed myself at the dinner party -all kinds of rice - and then came home and ate two more pieces of cheesecake.
But I'll go to the fitness confessional and they'll make me do 20 extra cable crunches and one extra spinning session for pennance. Well, off to the gym.

Four pieces of cheesecake??? In a way I envy you for being able to eat four pieces, but at the same time, I don't want to know how many calories that is.

Hey K. Just know that your binges will slow down. I remember my dad had sent me this box of amazing toffee for valentines day last year. I did well, kept it in the freezer and never opened it. One day my sister was over and opened it. A couple of days later I had 900 cal binge as well. Once I get that taste in my mouth, it's really hard not to have more. So unless I'm allowing myself a treat, I'm better off not even tasting. Lately I'm finding that a lot doesn't feel good in my belly (not used to the sweet and rich) so it's easier not to want more.
Just accept and move on. You'll be just fine.

Resistance
TBOM, Intermediate, Weeks 8-10, Workout C. Legs and lats. Painful, as last week. Narrow squats followed by 1.5 rep lunges, followed by 21s single leg press. Ouch. Quivering quads.
I was dissapointed with my chinups today. Same as last week. 6 reps (6-1/2 , I couldn't get all the way up for my 7th) and then 4 reps. Sad. I did more on the metollius board than my second set. Lots to work on.
Diet
Ugh. Didn't count and binged on desserts, so much that I feel sick to my stomach. What's worse is that my BF% was it's lowest yet at weigh-in this morning. At least I went in for my workout, which I didn't feel like doing at all (too busy today and we hosted a dinner tonight).
Tomorrow. Tomorrow.
PS: Had yet another cappuccino sighting at my gym today. I think I'm delusional - I'm seeing ripped hot blonde 30-somethings everyday, or maybe just noticing them because of my virtual friend/conscience. [rubs eyes]

Uh oh.... too many hours at the computer.
Don't feel bad K, we all need cheat weekends now and then. You shouldn't see a change at all in your bf%.

hehe. It must be from all that sugar you've been eating
Glad you got your workout in despite the busy day. I ended up taking the day off although I was hoping to get ahead on my week since I'll be traveling to chicago to teach a spin class on Tues.

Aerobic/Anaerobic Work
Tried a spin class at lunch with a new instructor for me. She worked endurance, with only 3 sprints of 1 minute each. A lot of work out of the saddle and long runs, which is not my strength. The lack of short intense intervals sucked, but it was probably better that way since I worked legs the day before and have to work legs tomorrow (Tuesday). BTW, the class was packed... all of the beginning of the year resolutions, especially from stay-at-home moms, who seemed to be in abundance in the class.
Diet
RMR 1480
Exercise 531
Food 1551
Deficit 460
23%P/33%C/43%F of which a full 13% was saturated. I ate an egg and a dip with goat cheese which accounts for the staurated number, and some almonds which makes the whole fat number higher. Overall, I could, and need to, do much better,
Morning Moanings
As I am logging this the morning after, I have weighed myself as usual and have noted that my weight and fat % have not gone down in the last 8 days. In fact, they have gone up slightly (1 lb weight increase and 0.5% fat increase). Of course, this could be due to measurement variance, but the fact that the overall trend hasn't moved down in that period of time, and that my measurements are where they were 10 days ago is of concern. I have been cheating, and the 2 cheat days this weekend were particularly bad, so I need to cut that out. Luckily, no parties this upcoming weekend. But I hate losing time - I should be losing about 1.5 lbs/week and about 1% BF per week. Hmmmm.

Resistance
TBOM, Weeks 8-10, Workout A. Hamstrings, Calves, and Shoulders. My wide grip deadlift numbers are pathetic. No need to list them here - they are too pathetic. And on top of it, I broke my form in the last two reps of the last set. Lucky the weights are so pathetic or I would've hurt my lower back. I am an idiot - a weak idiot.
Otherwise, good workout. I wasn't motivated tonight after my class was cut short because of what seemed to be a campus-wide fire alarm. But I did go up in every exercise weight.
This is the last week of this micro-phase. Thank God. It seems like I have been in this phase forever. I think the next phase is all compound work - or mostly compound work. Can't wait.
Diet
Didn't log today, but I know what I ate and it came to around 1600 kcals, which would put me at around a 350-400 kcal deficit. BUT, I know that my carbs were high and my protein intake low. Back to logging tomorrow.
Bruised Boot
After my lifting, I decided to climb since it was snowing so hard with driving wind that you couldn't see 10 feet past the window. So I went to the wall and flashed 4 routes. On the fifth, which I also flashed (albeit, I cheated with an off-hold at the crux), I smacked my foot in the instep on a hold. I was planning on climbing more, but it hurt too much and still hurts now. I hope this doesn't interfere with the 90 minute spin class I want to take tomorrow evening. If it still hurts, I'll rest it. Otherwise, I'm getting comfortable on the wall again, although I am still using too much brute force instead of elegant moves.
Oh yeah, the gym was packed and when I had to use the hack squat machine for standing calf raises there was this guy there checking his cell phone messages. I asked him if he was going to use the machine and he said yes, on;y one more set and then hung up and began his set. He was a young kid, pretty tall and bigger than me. He finished and then walked away - leaving three 45 lbs plates on each side (he managed to hack squat all of that weight about a quarter of the way down for 3-1/2 reps!). I yelled at him, "Hey! HEY!!" and when he looked back, I pointed to the plates. He came back and I unloaded one side while he did the other. I did say thank you to him, but one of these days. my stickler attitude for gym etiquette is going to get my ass kicked.

hmmm...I see a pattern here. First you beat yourself up on your deadlift, then you yell at a kid, then you kick the climbing wall and injure yourself .... please be careful Think back to your elegant moves, both for your safety and the safety of others
Hope your boot is recovered for a full workout manana.

Kaiser,
Can you come to my gym and tell the high school monkeys that they need to put the weights back as well? That is one of my biggest pet peaves, but I usually just shut up and go about my business. People are getting better about it I think. But on the other hand what do you expect at a YMCA. Can't wait until I can workout at a place like JP's!
Keep with it.
Chris
