my buddy who i work out with was wondering if his benching method could cause problems for his physical health. When going for a max he seems to get one arm up like nothing but then has to fight the other arm so its a sloppy angle...we even have to double clip the one side to keep the weights from sliding..is this healthy??

How often do you go for max? It sounds like he is still relatively new to working out, as problems like this often even out with time. Its hard to say without more info. I don't know if he has an injury making him weaker on one side, or if he is just weak. I would say, if he isn't injured, that you should work on your technique for a while before going for a 1 rep max. I can't remember the last time I maxed out. I think it was over 7 years ago.

Are you doing other exercises for the rest of your body? How old are you?

yah we rotate through the week focusing on one muscle group at a time. We are fairly new to weight training, half a year or so..he doesnt try to do this slant thing. He is left handed so he says that his left side is stronger. We are both 16. Maybe we will try dumbells and lower weights to fix this difference :s thanks
