WOW, what a complete change in workout can do for you!

In this month Fitness RX Magazine they feature a workout called the Fiber Blaster (Beach Body Workout). Since I was in major need of a change, and this program seemed to fit the schedule, I figured why not.

Monday and Friday are the weight training days of the program; they focus a full body workout of fast & slow twitching muscle fibers, and bringing these muscles to total exhaustion through a very tough combination of sets and reps.

Tuesday and Thursday focus on cardio. Starting with 10 one minute sprints to get things heated up, it moves into a 45-50 minute session of any cardio of your choice. I have been starting with the 10 one minute sprints, moving into a steady pace on the rowing machine than doing another 20 minutes of interval on the cycle.

I have been training since January and following the same routine since I started. Things seemed to be going great the first couple months, I was dropping major pounds, building muscle and starting to look & feel great. About 2 months ago this all seemed to stop, I had reached a point where my body stopped loosing fat, and started to put on a lot of muscle. This was a problem for me because I didn’t want to get any bigger muscle or fat wise. I changed my diet and started eating less and less but nothing seemed to work. As time went on I was getting more frustrated and loose with my diet, I had hit that 6 month wall, and I needed a change.

For the last month I have made exactly 0% progress, I haven’t’ gotten stronger, or thinner, I haven’t lost any fat, or put on any muscle. My body had become so conditioned to what I was doing that even pushing myself harder in the gym and eating next to nothing but protein didn’t help.

So I talked to a trainer at my gym and he said that I am defiantly not eating enough, witch could be part of the reason that I am storing fat again. He is now helping me with my diet and has me on a pretty good combination of protein & carbs. I also started the Fiber Blaster workout on Monday. I know it hasn’t been a full week since I started this workout but I am seeing such great results from it that I figured that I should share. So far this week I have lost 2LBS, but when I look in the mirror I see big results, especially in my stomach area. I haven’t been this sore from a workout since January, I can feel the progress, I have finally started to WORK in my workout again.

In closing, Sadly, I was at the point where I was close to giving up. I couldn’t find anything that I thought would work for me. Now that I have started making progress again I feel so renewed, like I just started all over. I fear my workout but I’m excited to see the results. If I learned anything from this experience it would have to be this; if you feel down about your training program it’s time for a change, even if you don’t I would highly recommend trying the Fiber Blaster Workout.

Sounds good. You probably were in a rut where your body had adapted to your workouts and diet. The best thing you can do is to make changes every 4-6 weeks so you can keep the body guessing and keep making progress.

One thing that I've learned from all my working out and reading about fitness & nutrition is how amazing the human body is at adapting to stresses placed upon it. The interesting thing is that generally as you get more experienced, your body actually adapts quicker than a person that's realitively inexperienced. So that length of time that you need to change things up actually shortens. But I think most experts agree with OldGuy and change it up every 4-6 weeks and down the road that number may change to 2-4. Plus, it keeps things interesting and motivating as well. There's nothing better than finding a new workout that beats the hell out of you and really gets you pumped. That pumped feeling comes from the different stresses applied.

Good luck and let us know how things progress!

Was that article in June or July's issue of Fitness RX?
