I am doing phase 6 (us) or Phase 1 (SA)

QUESTION

WORKOUT B
Complex 1: Hybrid -* Barbell Split Squat/Overhead Press
Step 1: Barbell Split Squat Set a bar on a squat rack and step under it so the bar rests across your upper back. Pull your shoulders back as you grab the bar with an overhand grip. The bar should sit comfortably on your upper trapezius. Lift the bar off the rack and step back. Stand in a staggered stance with your feet at least a metre apart, your left foot in front of your right. Lower your body until your front knee is bent 90 degrees and your other knee nearly touches the floor. Your front lower leg should be perpendicular to the floor, and your torso should remain upright.
Step 2: Overhead Press Drive yourself up with your legs as you thrust the weight toward the ceiling until you're up on your toes and your arms are straightened above you. Lower the bar to the starting position, described in Step 1. That's one repetition.
Alternate the forward leg in each set.

DOES THIS MEAN:

A) that one set is all left foot forward, push press, 10 times.

OR

B) do the left foot forward first 10 times, then the right both 10 times and that is one set?

It reads like it should be A) but if you are doing the recommended three sets you are going to get an imbalance 2 left, one right. I am using this as a cutting phase so I am doing B) which is kill. But for the record which is correct (or what the man planned)?

Thanks

Peter

after reading it several times, i think he means B).

Hope your cutting phase goes well.

PS i think you should start out with the weaker of your two legs if thats not what you were already planning on doing.

I agree with PaPa...You would do the left foot forward first 10 times, then the right. It says "Alternate the forward leg in each set"...not "each rep".

Great, thanks. I have been doing B. 10 left, 10 right 60 sec rest. Then 10 right, 10 left, 60 sec rest, then 10 left 10 right and sit down and weep.

But only for 60 sec because it is on to the reverse push up/dip supersets.
Arrrgh.

Thanks for the input.

Split squats are killer! Really hits the hamstrings & glutes. Buns of steel!!!

But I agree with PaPaLoads, do your weak leg forward first, which generally for right handed people is your right leg, then do the left leg which is most likely your stronger leg.

actually it is the bulgarians that I don't like, the straight split squats are not as bad. I also dislike lunges more than split squats but I think bulgarians are the worst.

Thanks
