as marykaa asked, that's great that you quit MWE and wondering how long it's been. and actually, i don't find you to far off from what i've found from other former smokers, that when they finally got serious about quitting, they took on some other activity to replace it (as long as it's exercise and not something like prostitution, hard core drugs, or joining some sort of cult ).
it's interesting that it's basically the first question i ask people that want me to personally train them:
"are you a smoker?"
if they're a smoker, i tell them "well, if you're serious about getting healthy, quit that first and THEN give me a call."

Spoken like a man who has never been addicted to nicotine.

I smoked for years while I was working out and finally kicked it all together for a New Years resolution this year. So 10 months and counting for me.
I did however replace the cigs with a nice cigar every now and then.
It's funny that I don't miss the cigs at all. It was the dip that was harder for me to quit than anything else. Used to dream about that stuff.
Keep up the good work!

Smoked 1.5 packs a day for over 18 years. Quit cold over 5 years ago and feel like a new person. Can't believe how much money I wasted, nor how my lungs must of looked.
To anyone who is a smoker...do yourself a big favor and keep trying to quit until you succedd.

How long has it been?
Oh, it's been close to three years now. Can't remeber the date exactly. I smoked for about 13 years before that.

It was the most difficult time for me because I would want to sit, watch FoxNews , and smoke. I decided that I needed to stay away from home until 5:30, so I started going to the gym everyday instead. I have come a long way from when I started.

Spoken like a man who has never been addicted to nicotine.
I have never been addicted to nicotine.. but if someone IS serious about getting healthy, I'd agree that quitting smoking is usually the First thing to do.. Wings fan didn't say it would be easy.
As for me.. I had told my Ex a few times that I didn't want him to start smoking again (he quit when we had our son).. I don't know if he started again after our devorce.
After one week with a new boyfriend I had met in a chatroom.. I told him.. that it was the Cigarette or me! he had been a 2 pack a day for 13 years. Well he quit.. though a year later.. I learned that he had thought I had been joking! and HE learned that I hadn't been joking! .. Well almost 8 years later .. he's extremely glad that I gave him the incentive to quit.

I have been smoking for 10 years and smoked 20 a day through that period. I have been nicotine free for 25 days now and feel quite positive about remaining nicotine free.
Of all the things that I have changed about my life over the past few months quitting smoking has been the hardest.

I've never really smoked.. but DO believe you! Tried getting my mom to stop.. she tried very often, never really made it.
If ever it gets too hard.. come talk about it! BEFORE it's to late.

If I had to choose between going through Marine Corps bootcamp, or going through the quiting smoking process, I'd choose bootcamp any day.
