I was reading somewhere that when you first start lifting you will have newbie gains and i started thinking when i first started 3 months ago I blew up really quick lifting everyday atleast 5 times a week and then about 3 weks ago dropped down to 3 times a week ...went up 20 lbs in 3 months so that bring me to my question in that 3 months I hit my abs maybe 1-5 times most. Now the abs have all of a sudden become my favorite muscle group and was wondering id I did the same as I did with upper body for the same amount of time will I see a big gain NEWBIE GAINS?.....I think it sounds abit rediculous....thought I'd ask the experts thanks guys
im guessing you're looking for a 6 pack. am i right??? of course i am who isn't looking for 'um?
well, from what i've learned from this forum, it's easy to get a six pack, HOWEVER, it ain't easy to get um to show. that's all bf% and genetics. For some, their 6 pack can show at 14% bf, while it takes others to go down to 7% bf to get theirs to show. So, basically, they lower your bf%, the more they'll begin to show. your bf% is based a lot on your diet, so make sure to keep an eye on that
note to experts: if i'm wrong, please correct me. yes, i'm asking you to criticize me thanks

Your abs are not a major muscle group. Having a six pack is about having good genes and a great diet, not to mention a low bodyfat.
You said your abs were your favorite muscle group. Do you do crunches and situps or are they more movement based core work? What I am saying is doing squats and deads help your core stability. If you want work your abs once a week or so, but don't specifically go after them like your legs or chest or back.

ok, So I get what your saying....I think Well see You can tell my abs are there I am anything but alot of bf%..As far as genes go I don't know I just really started lifting cause girls were saying I was built before lifting......lol. Not to mention being DOMINANT in a group..lol. Anyway your saying that if I hit my abs everyday it wouldnt benefit any? I've read to work your abs like you work any other muscle or every other day. I have a very athletic back ground. Just in the 3 months I've not only I guess bulked with minimum fat gain but have gotten really ripped.
You can definately tell my abs are there> It's kind of hard to explain what I'm going for. I'm not really going for the ripped really defined. I'm really wanting the bulky type look in the abs but still defined. heres the plan for the abs
3 nights a week
SIT UP - 3 - 20
CRUNCHES - 3 -30
end of bench Reverse Crunches 3 -20
Sidebends 20x3 30x3 45x3
Don't know if I'm really clear Maybe more questions? appreciate it fellers

Huh???
In three months??
Anyway, I'll clarify myself again. Your abs do not grow that much. Yes, you will get stronger in the core, but thats about it. If I did 500 situps a day but still had some fat in front, I wouldn't have a six pack because those situps alone won't get rid of the fat. If you want to show off your abs, get rid of the fat, situps aren't going to get you there.
Also, don't neglect your lower back if you are going to be doing all that unnecessary ab work.

The Part in bold was shot at the upper body.......sorry for the misunderstanding.
Ok I'm a natural athlete I excel in all sports and I'm naturally cut I tend to grow really fast while lifting. Now with the abs I am on a 1500-2000 calorie a day diet mostly clean food hate chcolate and junk so thats a plus. I'm really even confusing myself on this one. So I'm sorry about this.. I started at 5'8 145lbs and in 3 months went up too 165lbs with cleans eating now it seems my abs are more defined than they were hen I startd and they hav't really been worked. So if I work the abs they will gorw to a certain point but really they will only get stronger and to be ripped in midesction it is only diet faze with my normal routine Gotcha! I'm sort of slcaking on the diet I mean does nayone know of any plans besides the adams diet I'm going for something that someone tells you what to eat and what time of day to eat it any help?cThanks for all the help guys
In fact, your abs really don't grow at all. The difference won't be all that noticeable.
Are you lifting for performance? Cosmetics? To feel better? Do you want to gain weight, or do you want to cut? What is your routine? The more info you give us, the more info we can give in return
I didn't think you were talking about your abs either. I just find it hard to believe to get naturally "ripped" in three months.

ok...walldawg...
two comments..one on subject, the other not...
1) abs are a pain in the ass to show even for some people who are really not fat...i've tried for like 6 months different routines and diets and still have one little layer of fat over them.....that mite not happen for u, but its possible...
2) please..i beg you to reread you posts before you send them...because in your last one, at one point every other word was misspelled..its a pain in the ass to try to read that...no offense..just giving you my opinion...

"I Log the Exercises I do everynight after I get done. They may be in that order or in better order try to keep the muscles together" (As Far as Appearance Wise I'm going for the Bulky Defined Look instead of just Ripped to Shreds..)
Either way I would be happy. The muscle is definatly there. So how does it look? Any Good Diets That Tell you What to eat,When to eat it.
Once Again Thanks For All The Great Wisdom!
1. 1500-2000 seems like a really low cal intake. you should look at upping that to 500 over your maintenance cal intake if you want to bulk.
2. you should drop the isolation exercises. look in the Fitness FAQ section and try one of the pre-made routines.
3. if you want something that tells you exactly what to eat, i would suggest maybe taking a look at Men's Fitness (MF) in each issue they have a "
"Meal Plan". You may also want to look at Berardi's website and also Gourmet Nutrition (I've heard good things hoping to get it after the holidays).
4. Listen to these other guys as well, they know what they're talking about.
Doug, since you felt the need to criticize walldawg, let me show you this:
this is a period . It is used at the end of a sentence, like so. It is used to complete a thought.
This .. is used to show an incomplete thought, or a pause in thought.
If I can make an effort to use capitalization, you can do this. thanks buddy

WOW! Matt there are people at school like you. I'm not even going to say what I would call you. You have seemed to like going through my posts the last few days and finding anything that is wrong with them. I am aware that you need to put in punctuation. I even know that in Spanish there are some punctuation marks before a sentence.
I do not believe that I criticized him. I made a comment and asked him to reread his posts. NO BIG DEAL. People ask people to do that all the time on here. I know you are trying to stick up for him, but i doubt he needs it. He said he has to type quick because he is working. I understand that. I stopped after he told me his excuse. I will read the way he types.
Are you happy now? I used complete sentences. I used the punctuation I was taught on the road to being 8th grade valedictorian last year. Believe me, I know how to type.
Ok...I'm going to stop now. I'm just kidding Matt. That's just how I type now. I'll remember that next time I have trouble reading a post.
Thanks

Kevin Donald Touw, please stop interupting this nice conversation that I was having with Matthew. I do not think that it is very funny that you do this. You are supposed to respect you elders(me). I do not appreciate your interest, but (quote, unquote)"GO THE HELL AWAY!"

lol Kevin that was funny man. Doug I didn't write that to be mean, it was supposed to be more of a joke than anything. That's why I added the smiley face and the thanks buddy, otherwise I would've said other things. And I'm not going through your posts, I go through the forum. If I see something I feel like replying to, I do.

I know. I do have a dry sense of humor. Therefore most people dont know what I really mean. Therefore I have a total of about 1 friend. It's not fun. I was just screwing around.

Matt, I have something to say. I was actually wondering if you know that only the first letter of your name has to be capital. Not the one in the middle.
Just joking around

Oh that's just dry. I capitalize the A, T and E to get a cool shape, not for proper grammar. It's my msn name, and everybody knows that is the last place to type everything correctly. Once I started doing it for msn, I got used to it and kept it.
Anything else?
