Remember, you're not strong until you can do 10 one-handed pushups
One handed pushups I have only seen women BBs do these in person...never a guy. You have to be really strong but not wiegh too much in order to do one handed pushups. Can anyone here do them?
I can do 1 on a good day with bad form (ie. I'm all shaky)
Basically you have be to be strong and lean to do it.My kickboxing instructor (20 years old, black belt in kung-fu) can do 15ish
You obviously have to spread the legs apart, one arm behind the back, and with the other arm, the fingers should be pointing towards the inside (Ie. if it's your right arm, point your fingers to the left)

Impessive guys...just out ouf curiousity how much do you guys weigh and if you know your 1RM for bench, what is it? Just trying to gauge how strong you have to be to do one.(I know there are probably a lot more factors)
height: 5'8''
weight: 150..most of the time depending on hydration etc.
1RM: ??? most i ever did was 185x3-4. i'd say 3 cuz i think my spotter helped alot on the last one.
I think I better work on the 2 armed ones a while first. I'm pretty sure I can eek out a single one armed push up...but I'm not quite ready to make a habit of those yet.
Elevated legs sounds interesting. I may have to try that.
Yeah I can do them too
A long time ago, I was able to do 15 on my good arm when I was in a REALLY bad mood (still can't belive that ). Now, just like all the other guys here it seems, I can only do 2 or 3 one-armed pushups.
Besides, I don't to be able do a lot of them. They f*cked up my shoulders last time
BTW, I weigh 150lbs. and my bench 1RM is about 140lbs.
I might work on my technique of 1-arm push ups just for the hell of it(maybe to impres my coeds ). Lookin at some other stats I should be able to do 1 or 2. BTW, I'm 5'8", 148lbs, and my 1RM is 205lbs.
Rip - Wow. That's an impressive 1RM on bench! I'm 171# and honestly have no idea what my 1RM is. I've never tried to find out.
Today I did:
20 x 95
15 x 105
15 x 115
10 x 125
4 x 135
on bench. (along with chins/BB flys/cable flys/seated rows & wood chop)
I was pretty much spent after all that. doesn't doing your 1RM kind of mess up your workout? Maybe a dumb question cause I see almost everyone referencing their 1RM in here...

Thanks. The other day on bb.com everyone was talking about there max for bench and I never even thought about doing it cus I didn't see the point either cus why not spend the time in the gym on your routine. But, I got curious and since it was chest day I figured why not. I guess 205lb for my weight is pretty decent...don't have much to compare it to. Latley I have been doing 3sets of 170x6 but I am gonna bump that up to 175x4-6 my next workout.

I use my 1 RM as a measuring stick of sorts. Gives me something tangible to shoot for. So every 3-4 months I get geared up and do it to see where I'm at strength wise.
Currently my bench goal is 300. Last time I did my 1 RM I was at 265 while weighting 185 or so. Now I weigh 192 (~11% BF) and am going to try my 1 RM next monday. Anything over 280 and I'll be happy and feel like I'm on track

Someone else here (an expert) can give you more informed info....but when I started doing bench work, I kept getting a cramp in my left ham. I asked Jp and he told me that because I was lifting heavy I was tensing up and compensating with other muscle groups. He said relax your lower body...I did and I haven't had a cramp since.
Has little to do with your abs question...but I figure maybe you're doing something similar.

Just a guess..
When I spot my freinds I always see them benching and brining the weight down towars their neck. They don't have as much expiernce lifting as I(they usually just mess around in the gym) and no I take lifting serouisly so I always tell them to lower the weight towards their nipples. They are schocked at how much easier benching is using that(proper) technique.
one arm pushups are a lot easier if you spread your legs apart and put your other arm behind your back..i can do a couple that way and i can only bench my bodyweight maybe 7-8 times. is this how yall are doing them?

When I was in college a guy who lived on my floor bet me $20 that he couldn't do 20 push-ups on his thumbs. I took him up on it (yes...I know he wouldn't have made the bet if he couldn't do them). He got down and started pumping them out. It was one of most impressive things I've seen. Well worth the $20.
