Just curious how many of our regular forumites are personal trainers or strength coaches (any kind of fitness instructor)... I know the obvious ones, like Alwyn, Craig, Bill, Dos, ect, but if you read this and you are one, please sound off.
Well, not yet. But I'm studying for my CSCS. Ways off yet.

I am an ISSA certified fitness trainer (2002). However, I work in B2B sales (having been in sales since college). I have also fallen off the wagin for a bit - as evidenced by my log in the diet area of your site.
However, I asked for and recently received another kick in the arse to again pursue training. My family and friend are always pushing me to do the same.
I'm taking the ISSA PT test in January, I'm ready to whoop it's ass too

I am an exercise physiologist for a 120 physician specialty clinic. I do a lot of strength and conditioning work with people who have chronic diseases and disabilities, as well as short term issue - athletes w/ ACL repairs, diabetics, heart diesease, HIV, cancer, etc.
I am an asisstant trainer...kind of a trainer in training. In a nuttshell I watch peoples techniques and record their progress, I don't get to do any of the routine writing. I am currently studying through the nsca to become certified and going to school for phsyical therapy (used to be nutrition but had some hang ups so recently switched).

Relentless, I noticed in one of the other threads how much we had in common. Thats kickass dude.
Where are you an assistant trainer at? I have never heard of that before.
I also noticed you asked me about certifications. I am currently uncertified. My gym doesn't require I do so I have not yet spent the money. Its a good marketing point to have but I haven't been able to drop all that cash yet. At some point coming up soon I will probably get certed through the ISSA or NSCA.

i want to be here in the u.k,i am taking a course, that is why i am on here all the time trying to soak in the knowlegde,no doubt i will get there in the end!
At the moment I'm doing work experience at the gym, following the trainers around, floor walking, soaking up all of the knowledge that I can and making my own judgements.
I'm studying sports nutrition by distance and will hopefully be starting a fitness instructor course the same way next year.
I'm also hoping to become a C.H.E.K exercise coach or practitioner..

Sup D. Well my boss titled me Assistant trainer I don't think its anything official. Basically I was the guy to go to whenever you hear words like "why won't these pins go in?" or "how do i set this to incline?". I also gave tips on technique, and performed exercises for people to watch so my boss could have a demonstration about what hes talking about. I'm not certified yet I want to get there, maybe i will have time to study over christmas break. I used to work at this little hardcore gym called The Brickhouse, but now I am employed in a different town since I am currently going to school there. The gym is called The Olympic Fitness Center, right now I am just the behind the desk guy lol. But I have my foot in the door. It's funny though because people aren't used to seing certain exercises, I taught this HUGE dude yesturday powercleans because he was watching me do them while he did one arm cable tricep pushdowns lol. I would love to get a hold of a naturally big guy like that and guide him into compound movements and power lifting and make him STRRRRRRRROOOOOONG as hell. If the retreat is in AR this year i would love to come to it, maybe I'll see you there.
