Question

Do you guys know any good sites about form during exercises???
Because I'm starting to doubt my form during a lot of exercises. This all started since a trainer at the gym said my knees shouldn't go past my toes when doing squats. I don't know if it's true since I have never heard or read that anywhere before. But if it's true, there is a good chance I've been doing other exercises wrong too.

Squat: 195kg - 429lbs (training) ..seriously outdated..
Bench press: 135kg - 297lbs (training)
Deadlift: 190kg - 418lbs (training)

Your trainer is not correct. Tell me if it looks like this guy's toes go past his knees:



Was he just saying that you shouldn't under certain circumstances, like an injury, or was he saying in general it should never happen?

I think Alwyn (what happened to him?) once quoted some number where there was less strain on the knees when they went past the toes than there was on the back when they were not.

first of all, SHE isn't my trainer ... which is too bad because she's hot even though she's wrong about the squats. We went to the gym with school and she said I was doing them wrong
Also I think that entire gym sucks... it hasn't even got a power rack! not too much free weights either. And an other trainer , a guy this time, said that I was doing my dips wrong because my arms went lower then parallel to the floor. Is his wrong too? He is ,is he?

Your knees can go past on full squats, which is what is pictured. Partial squats they should not. Also, be aware that partials place a larger amount of strain (sheer weight) on the knees.

That depends on your shoulders. I wouldn't go much below parallel. My shoulders can't take it.
