Before you laugh, understand that I haven't taken a vacation in 4 years.

I had planned a 4-week microcycle that would have started this Monday, but got invited to go away for a week on my third week--which I've accepted. It's a spur of the moment thing, and no access to weights. Should I adjust into a 2 week micro-cycle (which seems silly in a way) or just take the week off and finish off the 4 week cycle as though I had been doing stuff in week 3?

Personally I would make that week your rest week and start the cycle over once that I got back? How long ago was your last rest week?

Take into consideration your entire training status prior to the vacation which by the way you should take and have a great time (you deserve it!).

If training intensity has been high up to vacation, you'll probably get a nice delayed-training effect just by staying active for a week. Then restart you cycle when you get back, but make your base level slightly higher than when you left.

If intensity has been low (and depending on how motivated you are) you can "maintain" with a lot of varied activities and body weight exercises while you're gone, and then pick up where you left off in the cycle.

Hope that helps.

P.S. Have a kick-ass time!
