I posted this on the MH forum but only got 2 replies (if you two are here, thanks! just looking for some more input) I appreciate any advice.
I've worked out off and on (mostly off ) for several years. After finally getting motivated to start again by beginning a path to a career in the fire service and then waiting out a couple of injuries, I'm starting next week. I'm 26, about 6'4", 225 lb and about 22% bf. I need to build strength and endurance and also size (for my vanity).
Here's my plan:
Mon:AM HIIT - PM HST
Tue:AM HIIT - PM walk/jog (build up to run) 1.5-2mi. & yoga for flexibility and balance
Wed:Same as Mon.
Thu:Same as Tue.
Fri:Same as Mon.
Sat:Same as Tue. (maybe leave out HIIT)
Sun: Off

I realize that HST is better suited for size than strength but I want to try to add muscle mass first to aid in calorie burn. After a cycle of that I will switch to something more strength-focused. I was considering Chad Waterbury's "Backward Training" from the new issue of Men's Fitness, unless I find something I like better between now and then.

I'm basically following the Abs diet guidelines. I try to eat pretty clean, about 6 times a day.

So what do you think?

Im not the guy to critique this but, its weak.

If you go to FAQ you'll see some workouts there, take a look at 'maximal size' (if its size your after) it gets some good feedback from those who have tried it.

The diet forums have loads of great stuff on clean eating. "TAP" and "Adams diet" appear to be the success stories this year.

Good Luck!

What is so weak about it? I've heard nothing but good things about both HST and HIIT. As far as the diet, I didn't pick the Abs Diet because it's anything revolutionary. It's just basic clean eating guidelines. If I eat clean, with plenty of protein and about 500 calories above maintenance I should be able to gain, right?

Hi Steeleb, again im not the guy to critique this so dont much of what I say to heart. HST is a good program...3 total body workouts per week, using obligatory weight increase, I overlooked that you where training wednesday and friday as well. At first glance it looked like HST on monday period...my bad.
Personally I do my HIIT stuff on my off days and my flexibility training at night (on strength days). As for the Abs diet, i know nothing about it, I was just offering some feedback on what appears to be working for others here..'TAP' and "Adams diet'
I'd say you could probably leave out the tuesday walk-run in the pm. I would still look at 'Maximal Size' though, I have a friend doing it and he loves it. Getting big to!

Sorry about the mis-read, A pro may jump in here and set you straight, if one dosnt, I generally take it as a green light!
