JP,
How would you feel about adding a challenge section to the forum? I had seen them on other forums and a thread on here, about some guys racing to a 400lb deadlift, made me think that it might be popular here. Most of the challenges I have seen are timed. One example I saw was squatting 100% of your bodyweight and OHP 75% of your bodyweight. Each exercise would be how many you can do in 5 minutes, without racking the bar. Another one that I got from rossboxing was called the Living Room Challenge. In this one you have three, three minute rounds with two minutes rest between rounds. In each round you perform a different type of sandbag lift. First round is C&P, second is Zercher squats and third is shouldering. Then you multiply your reps times the weight of the sandbag and add up your final score. I think challenges like this help keep you motivated and competition can be a good thing. Of course everybody reports their own scores, so it is all on the honor system. What does everybody think?

We could do some of this stuff at the retreat too. Sounds like fun, we would just have to keep everyone honest.

JP, this might be fun and motivating. I am always looking for new ways to motivate myself and a challenge from someone might be both interesting and fun. As long as we keep the challenges reasonable and in line with the intent of this forum, I think it's a great idea. Even got a thought or two for a challenge myself.

Given that some of us guys aren't as strong as others, I might recommend something that measure improvement more than total weight.

But...I have no idea what that would actually consist of.

You can make challenges that consist of bodyweight percentage exercises. This helps offset some total strenght advantages.

I think that you can make a thread like that and put in the training log forum.
