Glad you liked it Bond and Fisher! It was a hell of a lot of fun to write. Lou was a pleasure to work with. He found some really neat training stuff, and took all of my nerdy archaeology techno-babble and made it into an entertaining read.

I agree -- very interesting. The whole issue of MF was good.

God do I ever hate archaeological techno-babble. Thank heavens Lou saved the day.
Great job, guys.

I made this comment on another thread but I did really enjoy the article. It was a good change of pace from the standard stuff thrown at us. From Johnka's standpoint it most have been nice to combine the 2 passions and get paid.

Thanks guys!
Steve, glad we could make you think of John while you were on the John.
Chris, it's all a conspiracy ... against you!
Seriously, magazine distribution remains one of those archaic processes. When you get your magazine depends on where your copy was printed (I have no idea where MF is printed; MH was printed for a while in Effingham, Illinois, and then for a while in Wisconsin, IIRC), and how it was shipped to your regional post office.
All the magazines are generally printed on the same run, which may take a day or two, but what happens after that is a mystery, even to most of us in publishing.
It involves boxes, trucks, the Illuminati, men in black, the Priory of Scion, Jeff Gannon, and the dude who shot one of the Kennedys (I can never remember which).

Chris, they didn't send you a copy this month as a courtesy. There's a whole section in this month's issue on martial arts catabolizing muscle gains. ;P

this post made me go out and buy the magazine. After reading johnka's posts and pondering as I sometimes do I'm becoming more and more interested in the food trends of pre-farming man.
I know that there's a following in the community about that sort of thing. Is their any good source material you guys would recommend?

Very interesting article guys.
Lou, I love your writing style. Every time I read your work I laugh out loud. Your sense of humor definitely comes through in your material.

I haven't read that issue yet, but I did happen to pick up a Men's Journal yesterday and read an article written by Lou. Great article! Men's Journal could use some fitness articles written by a real pro. The funny thing was that the model's form was atrocious on a couple of the exercises. Did you notice that, Lou?

Just picked it up, and looking forward to the article.
I will say though, I was a little skeptical when I saw a pro wrestler on the cover.

I was at the shoot, and instructing him on the exercises. I haven't seen the printed magazine, but I checked the exercises online, and they all looked like what I remember from the shoot.
Where was his form bad? I know the two-board press looks funny because of the close grip, but that's what he's supposed to be doing.
And the deadlift looks odd shot from the front, but his form seemed fine to me. The guy was a very, very strong dude.
Do you see problems that I missed?

Gobbla, here's one of the largest collection of articles about paleonutrition from Cordain. Many of them are fun to read.
