hi,i have been doing boxing for 3 years on and off,and i am a light heavyweight!i am just wondering what kind of exercises would be good for building up power in punches?i do a pritty good workout 5 times a week but just want some of your views?thanxs

I'm no boxer, but I read somewhere that doing pushups where you clap helps build up punching power.

I use to coach boxing, and to add power to your punches it mostly comes from the twisting of your torso. I would do twisting abs work, hyperextensions, and medicine ball work. If you want upper body strength, pullups and chinups. Making jabs really fast and snapping them are keys to wearing your opponent down.

thanxs for the infomation guys!i already do the clapping pushups and pull ups plus the twists!but at leas now know that what i am doing is right!thanxs again!!

having a strong back will improve your punching power. So make sure you are doing your back exercises.

i do a full body workout my friend,i like to improve the whole body as boxing uses alot of muscles!
