Mahler’s Monday Morning Motivator # 67– Memorial

Good Morning, Guys,
I hope all of you in the states are enjoying the holiday weekend and today is, of course, the focus of that weekend. I have been thinking about a few disturbing posts I have read of late on some of the forums. Posts that criticize, posts that judge, and posts that are filled with anger. Today we remember the many men and women of this nation who laid down their lives for what this country represents. No one stopped to think what their skin color was. No one stopped to examine their beliefs. No one excluded them from dying because of their politics. When making the supreme sacrifice, a mirror was not placed in front of them to show them if they were good looking enough or perhaps just not one of the beautiful people who fit the profile of hero. There was no scale there to weigh them and say, you are too fat or too skinny to deserve this honor. There was no one there to tell them to do 50 pushups or run 5 miles so that we can see if you are fit enough to pay the price. The record keepers were not on hand to say, sorry, too old, sorry too young. No, only they were there; men and women of every color, belief, size, shape and age. Perhaps they could tell us a little about themselves and why they gave their lives, but death has silenced them. And regardless of who they were, what they believed, how they looked, it is up to the living to honor them.

Have a great week.

Thanks John. It's good to keep our mind on the purpose of the holliday, and not just another three day weekend. I wish there were some way to get your motivator to these party people. Regardless, well put. Thanks.

As always, eloquently put John.

I'll try to remember to bump this on Nov 11 as well.

Hey John, I replied at MH, just wanted to say hi! It's been a while since I have been able to hit the forums. Good to see everyone still here.

Thanks John. Although it is not a holiday in Canada, it is always important to remember the sacrifice our fighting men and women have made, regardless of the time of year. We recently had an election here and once again the voter turnout was less than impressive. It irritates me to no end that people can't make the effort to get to the polls when their forebears died so that they would have the right to do so.
