IMO, i think he locks his knees too early. If i'm not mistaken, the hips and knees are to lock out at just about the same time. Explode your hips forward and then drive up through your heels. I'm sure Danny or someone else who's more knowledgeable will be able to give you a better answer, but that's just what i picked up.

Good catch Kevin. His legs straighten out way too early. He's doing a two-stage lift, with an initial lift with his legs, then he RDLs it up. Sad too, considering how much time he spent working on that page.

?!?!?!?!?!?!?
I don't see anything wrong with it ;[ ;[ ;[
The only problem is that the clip itself doesn't follow the instructions written below :/ his back doesn't stay at the same angle while he raises the bar to the level of his knees.
Beyond that I honestly don't understand what's so wrong about his form, anyone care to ellaborate(spell :/)?

When doing a deadlift, you shold fire your hips forward and drive up through your heels. At the end of the movement, your hips and knees should lock out at just about the same time. In that clip, the guy locks his knees out too early. So, his knees are locked out but his hips are still flexed. So, he has to RDL it up to the top of the movement. This places strain on the lower back. The point of a convential deadlift is to use your whole body in the movement. So, your knees and hips should lock out at the same time. Simply put, his knees lock out too soon.

Kevin: Nothing wrong with an RDL . . IF that's the exercise one is doing.
I agree on the "two staging" of the motion . . . It's the first thing I noticed.
Three: understand?

Definitely Chris C.-but it says a conventional deadlift, so i just wanted to make sure that he understood the difference.

Form aside where do I get those invisible plates..those are cool!
so the diff between the two types of Dl are the dominance of the hip in RDl and the "balance" in the conventional?
How about Stiff leg DLs? are the knees lock from start to finish?

Shouldn't his butt be lower in the starting position?

underneath, where he has his explanations with pictures, you can scroll over some of them with your mouse and see what he calls "bad technique." With the exception of one where his back is rounded, though, all the "bad technique" pictures are more or less how he SHOULD look at each stage of the lift.

I don't know, its not that its bad. From watching a lot of PL deadlifts(PR attempts) it doesn't look bad at all. PL's look more like the are SLDL when the weight gets super high...

OK, gents: i just realized that video and explanation are for a "clean deadlift". It says in the second photo description that it is NOT a regular deadlift, and that the legs SHOULD be extending faster than the back. It seems like it is the motion leading up to performing a clean.

I'm just going to have to dig out my weight equipment here at home and take some pics of me doing a lift. Then maybe you all can help me out on my form that way.....

I checked out more of the site; they have their different sport workouts listed, with some instructional videos (mostly oly and multi-joint strength exercises). I did not see a regular deadlift listed in any of the programs, just the "Clean Deadlift". The other instructional videos I checked out looked OK, although I still think that model leans forward too much in some other exercises I checked out, such as the hang clean and the front squat. He seems to use his back a bit more than he should. Am I right? Maybe it's just me, or maybe it's his bias in his movements.
