Mahler’s Monday Morning Motivator # 82 – Hi, Ho, Silver

Good morning, guys.
For any of you guys who can remember back that far or you younger guys who watch TV Land, you may recall the original dynamic duo; The Lone Ranger and Tonto. They rode their way across our TV screens with a cloud of dust and a hearty “Hi, Ho, Silver … Away!” Silver was, of course, the Lone Ranger’s horse. As I was growing up, very close friends were often referred to as the Lone Ranger and Tonto. They were the standard for friendship and doing what was right. Clayton Moore, who played the Lone Ranger, took the role very seriously, some say too seriously, and literally lived it for the rest of his life. Recently and by accident, I came across a web site dedicated to the Lone Ranger and Tonto and was surprised to find out that there was actually a Creed that was the summary of the beliefs of the Lone Ranger and his outlook on life. It’s pretty interesting and even though written decades ago, has some messages for the 21st century.

The Lone Ranger Creed

I believe,

That to have a friend, a man must be one.

That all men are created equal and that everyone has
within himself the power to make this a better world.

That God put the firewood there but that every man
must gather and light it himself.

In being prepared physically, mentally, and morally
to fight when necessary for that which is right.

That a man should make the most of what equipment he has.

That 'This government, of the people, by the people and
for the people' shall live always.

That men should live by the rule of what is best for the greatest number.

That sooner or later... somewhere...somehow... we must settle
with the world and make payment for what we have taken.

That all things change but truth, and that truth alone, lives on forever.

In my Creator, my country, my fellow man."

The Lone Ranger

Tonto always referred to the Lone Ranger as “kimosabe” which meant, friend.
To all of you, who I call “kimosabe,” have a great week.

Tonto: Enough of the talky-talky Kemosabe, and just shoot'em in the arse.
