I am trying to find the best way to do these, but my wrists feel like they are going to break off long before my legs are taxed. Does anybody have any quick suggestions on what I am doing wrong? Also, I had some bruising on my collar bone after the first week. Is this normal?
I've switched hand positions several times, trying to rest the barbell where HGM suggests, but it just never gets comfortable. At one point today I lost feeling in part of my left palm. Again, does anyone have any helpful hints for front squatting?
I put the bar across my shoulders and then cross my arms so my hands are on my opposite shoulder and my elbows stick straight in front of me. This way the bar rolls toward my body and the arms keep your balance.
You could try looping a pair of wrist straps around the bar and pulling up on the straps.
I prefer this to the crossover grip described by lax because it feels more stable to me.
Hope that helps,
Mike
This is exactly how I do them, thanks to you providing this tip some time ago. I can say that this is as comfortable as you can get doing Front Squats and one of the best tips I have ever received.

If you don't have wrist straps you can also use two towels. I did that for a bit, and it felt much better for the wrists and hands.

I tried Mike's idea, but I didn't like the feeling in my hands.
I also tried cutting two small sections of foam pipe insulation (for insulating hot water pipes in crawl spaces)and putting it on the bar. This worked OK, but not better than a Sting Ray. http://www.adfit.com/stingray/index.asp
There's just no way that I could get heavy enough dumbbells in the proper position. Phase 8 is extremely low reps, and I definitely need to start with the bar off the uprights.
