G'day Bec, I haven't seen many Aussies on this board so far...but glad to have you here. There are many guys extremely knowledgeable on here to help with workouts, and with diets. If you check the diet/nutrition page you will see a diet recently posted by Adam Campbell. Click here:

diet

Likely for any specific help you would need to let the panel of experts know a little more information. What do you currently eat, do you currently work out with weights or cardio, do you have access to a gym..etc.
Have a look around, come back with some specifics, and there will be plenty of help from the forumites.

I was watching televesion today and I think I've come up with the best way for you to shed the pounds.

Buy a bowflex and sell your weight equipment or gym pass. Use your bowflex for three sessions weekly.

Purchase "Fitness Made Simple" starring fitness "celebrity" John Basedow for a "low" price of "only" 29.99! Then combine the two routines together, and you should see "results" in 2 weeks!

If this doesn't work, you can return both products using a money back gurantee and then purchase the Gazelle freestyle, and lose weight while being screamed at, and annoyed by Tony Little.

Now Imagine if all of the advice on this board was laced with advertisements promoting television fitness products... wouldn't that be awful.

hi there when i was 16 i was overweight and i tried lots of things and i found that cycling for an hour a day really helped as it was rather enjoyable and it seemed to shed the pounds, however you must keep up a good speed and not just slowly peddle the faster the more pounds shed!there are lots of exercises i used to do i will list for example what i used to do,bearing in mind i was at college and had to fit it round my daily timetable when i first started:

monday:
cycling 1 hour-start slow at first then build it up,i found right near the end about half a mile away from home i used to give it all i got and it used to tier me out!
tuesday-
treadmill-30-45 minutes
rowing machine-20-30 minutes-this used to really get my heart pumping
wed-
cycling-1 hour
thursday-
aerobics-join a club or get one of those videos that you can follow, this exercise can really burn fat!
friday-i used to really go for it this day-
treadmill-30 minutes
rowing machine-30 minutes
stepper machine-30 minutes
cycling 30 minutes

this is what i did however if you wanna follow it do if you dont fine!your diet is your main key also get a training partner it helps alot!

Bec,
I just lost 35lbs in about 2 months but it took alot of will power.
All I did was cut my calories down to around 750/day (I watched them very closely) & didn't eat within 3-4hrs of going to bed.
Just make sur eto keep protein high & calories low. So try & eat grilled or baked chicken, fish, veggies, fruit & stay away from candies or any sweets & drink diet pop & when you cook use calorie free butter
1 chicken breast=200calories
1 plank of fish=around 100calories
1 egg white=15calories
1 fat free yoplait yogurt=100calories
veggies, not even enough calories to count

it's hard at first but keep it up along with a small workout program, I reccomend at 1st get on a bike & ride or something low impact.
you'll see results in no time and after about a month it's easy to stay keep eating healthy

Hope this helps

Are you nuts? 750 cals a day? I am surprised you could move. I don't think I could get out of a chair eating that little amount of calories...that is NOT a healthy way to lose weight!

Konnann,

Please re-evaluate your eating program immediately. I think it's safe to say you're in your 'ridiculous under eating phase' (I think everyone had one at some point, so let's not kill him). You should probably be getting around 2000 calories a day to LOSE weight.

You might have lost 35 lbs, but I can GUARUNTEE that half of that was muscle.

So, you ate too little, which sucked because:
- you didn't get to eat!
- you were hungry!
- you lost 12 lbs (at least) of muscle

Just to put it in perspective, you'll probably spend another year trying to put on 12 lbs of muscle. And the only way to gain muscle is by eating enough to start gaining weight.

Please checkout out 'massive eating' and everything else by Berardi at t-mag.com for some good starting points about diet.

Bec,

Please don't take a route in which you start eating less than 2000 calories a day. Follow the other advice given.

Bec, if you are still reading these posts..
I sent a message to JP to jump in on the thread himself because I was worried about the advice! But please, check out the link to the diet thread I originally posted. The diet is more a guide to eating by Adam Campbell, one of the real 'experts' on this website.
