I have just joined my collegiate rowing crew and since I don't have a spot on the eight man boat (as of yet) I need some help. During the spring and summer I bulked up and for the past couple of weeks after I finished my hyptertrophy cycle I have been getting my body fat down. I had no prior plans to join Crew, if I had I wouldn't have wasted my summer doing bodybuilding workouts and would have been doing more strength specific routines and increasing my VO2 max.
This is where I need some major help, I'm currently at 165, 5'10 with 9% bodyfat; There are two divisions in rowing, lightweight (160 and under) and open. I really don't want to drop five pounds so I need to gain 5-10 of muscle by january (Sounds more realistic than trying to fit the norm of open oarsmen who are usually 6'-6'2 at about 200 lbs with 8-9% bf).
I have been possibly considering Pendulum Training for athletes but with rowing it is a powerful AND endurance sport. Can anyone help me throw together a lifting routine that is sport specific to Crew? or at least point me in the right direction? ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

You might want to direct something at BryanC or send him a PM. He was a collegete rower.
