I am recovering from a shoulder impingment, and I want to start doing DB squats. I can't see any harm in doing them, because the weight will just be held at the side. But with that said, there are experienced trainers on this site that might feel differently???

Any advice, I'm looking for some compound moves to keep some form of weight lifting in my life while I rehab. Thanks.

Why would BB squats be a problem? Unless you don't have a rack I would think they would be easier on the shoulder. I could be wrong, though.

That's one of the things I was wondering. I was thinking it might be less stress holding the DB's at my side, but I'm really not sure.

Any other opinions?

I think that the abducted/externally rotated arm position used with barbell squats could be an issue for you if you lack flexibility and comfortable range of movement related to your injury. Simple rule, I suppose, is that if barbell squats are too uncomfortable for you, try the alternative that you're considering.

What do you think of doing some form of DB Deadlifts?
