Just thinking out loud, it's an isolation movement, so its growth potential is limited unless combined with major compound lifts targeting the chest. I'd include it along with dumbbell flyes, but do the compounds first in your workout generally.

The cable fly is good and I actually like it better than Dumbbells. You get constant weight applied to the chest during the whole movement vs. it getting lighter as the DB's come up. I find it hard to get a good squeeze at the end of the fly with DB's cause in order for it to be heavy at the top of the lift, you need to be able to move even more weight in the lowest position which is were people are weakest. I still do them lying on a bench with handles.

One more thing, When doing any dumbell flyes, should your chest be arched during the ENTIRE set?

I believe what he is referring to is a cable crossover, not just an ordinary fly done with the cables.
No, it's not a good mass builder, but it can be used to further fatigue a muscle or pre fatigue. In which case it could be a mass builder. But I would stick with your compound heavy chest movements.

I do cable crossovers sometimes for my last chest exercise, just to really make sure my chest fells full when I am done with my workout. But I agree with the others, stick with compounds for the chest(and anything esle for that matter).

Get your mass first with a solid foundation. Then once you get ample mass, then you can try and fill in with little changes in your training. for the most part, the pectoralis muscle shape is largely determined by genetics, attachments, etc. so just work with the hand you were dealt the best you can and good luc.

Dips will hit your chest, with a focus on the outer and lower portion - no need to do flyes.
