I use to look forward to my squat days. And just 2 weeks ago I hit a new PR. Then I read Starting Strength. I re-evaluated my form and started doing ATG squats. Woweee I hate them with a passion. The only reason I never started doing them was due to my saw horses being a bit to tall. I use to go just below parallel. And a week ago I decided to bring my saw horses to my dad's workshop and cut them down 4".
I haven't done any workouts in the past week due to a nasty cold I got. (Thanks kids) And now first day back I do ATG. My legs feel like rubber and my hamstrings are calling for the foam roller. I think my love will return again, but I have a very good feeling DOMS will be in order. DAMN YOU ATG!!
I squat off of sawhorses as well. How tall are you? My squats are a good bit below parallel with the sawhorses. And to be honest the hardest part isn't the reps. It's just simply getting the bar off of the sawhorses. The horses are just low enough that I can get underneath to be able to squat it up. I can't imagine if they were lower.
I'm 5'10" . However I only use the saw horses for safety in case I can't get the weight back up. The uprights on my bench are plenty tall enough. I cut the saw horses to be a few inches lower than my waist. I still wanted to be able to use them for other things and didn't want to cut them too short.

Well, it's not so much as being an ass as replying with "Cool story, bro" to a guy who had to make a thread basically saying "yo brah i squat atg nao"
Welcome to ATG squatting DadofTwo. I'm also glad that DoT was clearly not insulted by the pic and can take a little fun.

lol jk
All jokes aside-if you want leg growth, do ATG, DadofTwo.

Sorry! I just noticed that it's wrong! I can change it to Flumen in the system if you want!

Fulmen,
Even if your intention was friendly, I did not think it came off that way. Your posts do at times come off as "put downs" and too aggressive, particularly to new posters.
I cannot speak for DadofTwo, but I would have at least "put off" by the post.
This forum has a very good reputation for being a friendly and welcoming place. JP and the other mods and the FORUM MEMBERS have worked very hard over the years to develop and nuture this atmosphere, and will continue to do so,
Anyway, I hope I have made my point and do not want to beat a dead horse.
++++++++++++++++++++
As far as Fulmen becoming Fluman, my apologies. It was an unintentional error, not meant to disparage your choice of forum name.

I don't think that you need to restrict your posts to life or death questions or nuggets of wisdom. The reason boards like this exist are for like minded individuals to interact.
Thank you Mahler I appreciate that. It's great to be a part of a great forum with great people. And I will say when I read Fulmen's post, I was actually shocked. I would expect that behavior from other fitness related sites I've come across. But after reading other posts of his I kinda got a glimpse of his personality. I've been reading this board for a few years now and have always found excellent knowledge and very motivating people. It's nice to see the vast majority of the posters here are extremely friendly and helpful.
