OR chin ups. If this sounds stupid, please forgive me, but am I correct in thinking that if I can do 1 chinup(pullup) at 211 lbs, then I should be able to bench press 211 lbs? Is this correct? I think you're using the same muscles, but I'm not real sure. One of my goals is to be able to press my body weight, and since I don't have 211 lbs of weights yet, my thinking was that if I could do a chinup then I should be able to press my weight. Currently I'm BPing 120 when working out. Although if I go much higher, then my wife won't be able to spot me. Thanks for the info.

Nope.
The pullup/chinup is a pull exercise. The bench is a push exercise. Oversimplified but, Pulls use bis and back muscles. Bench uses tris and chest muscles.

And for that matter if you can do a 211lb chin-up, dosen't mean you'll be able to do a 211lb pull-up.

I can finally do chin-ups, but pull-ups still elude me

Yes, that's why chinups (underhand grip) are easier...

Or, because Bill or JP might be reading this, chinups use a supinated grip whereas pullups use a pronated grip. Uh? I think.
