Here's the news: I'll be speaking at the fitness retreat seminar this year since Jenna Jameson is unavailable.
I have an outline made up, but I want to get feedback from the attendees regarding the topics of discussion. I'll tackle any issue that's requested of me (assuming it's appropriate). Therefore, let the requests begin!
It's going to be an incredible seminar - don't miss it!
I have a request for a Rate Coding topic. I am just recently discovering how to have the optimal ability to display strength (and even have a fair amount of strength in general) you have to have power. I am interested in methods to increase power therefor increasing strength. I know you have discussed practicing concentric reps for the highest speeds humanly possible not only for strength but for hypertrophy if I recall right, and maybe you could go into that and discuss how motor units react to that type of stimulas and etc. Thanks!!!
I am particularly interested in learning how I can take a pathetic set of shoulders that have been injured on and off for a long time and turn them into a pair of surgically implanted cannonballs! I am in PT now to recover from a car accident that jarred my shoulder but didn't tear anything. My external rotators are weaker than a kitten's. In an isolated position, I can't even externally rotate 2 kilos! Apparently bent over rows, low pulley rows, lateral raise, and various db external rotation exercises don't cut it. Once I am 'rehabilitated' how can I build a respectable set of delts? I miss power cleans!
Balancing strength and hypertrophy resistance training with HIIT and other aerobic and anaerobic pursuits. Finding a happy medium when designing a schedule.
Kaser,
You just about hit what I was thinking. I want to get a little stronger and gain muscle mass, but how does one balance that with the desire to run or other aerobic pursuits.

I like Kaisers and (even though I wont be going) had a similar suggestion, and thats just plain balancing size and strength. Its always seemed a bit chicken and the egg to me. The more size you have, the more you have to work with to get stronger, but the stronger you are the more you can lift to build size.
Keep the request coming, I'm making a list of all additional topics to cover.
Jean-Paul really hit the "nail on da head" with his post. I'll be taking each attendee through a series of muscle tests to assess shoulder joint health and function. This information alone will be worth the price of the seminar. Since shoulder injuries/imbalances are so ubiquitous with most trainees, I'll discuss/demonstrate the treatment protocols, in depth.

Each attendee?! SWEET! Assesment in joint health and function by a top professional is beyond awesome!
I know I already put in a request...but this sparked another topic idea. I think many of us might be able to benefit from a topic dealing with tightness in the hip and learning proper glute activation. I think I have a problem with that but I really have no idea. All I know is the squat is my worst enemy and anything I can do that might help my big lifts go up would be great, I am sure everyone else agrees. So my next topic request is dealing with tight hips and low glute activation and usage. Thanks!
Ditto to Newlife. I'm in the UK and therfore it's a bit hard to make the retreat! Would love at least a report of some kind, but audio/video would be fantastic.

I think I am in the minority here, but I am most interested in sports application. My motivation is sports performance(beach volleyball). Shoulder health and function assessment sounds great and I wouldn't be opposed to Rev's idea of some discussion of hip mobility and usage. But also how to addapt our workouts to optimize performance on the court/field as opposed to working out to get better at working out. How to time and balance weight training sessions with sport specific training. Stick to your strengths and teach us what we need to know, you probably know what we need to know better than we do. Wish it wasn't still 3 months away, this is going to rock.
Jimbo,
I know you (like most of us) are on a budget, but chances like THIS only come once in a lifetime. Or in the case of the JP Fitness annual Men's Retreat, once a year!
Trust me on this one. You will regret missing this more than you realize. After reading about it from everyone who came you will really kick yourself that you missed out on a chance to meet Chad Waterbury and many of your buddies in this very forum where you can meet them in the flesh. The DVD will be great for those who just want to make sure that they find out what we learned, but for the atmosphere and comaraderie, it just can't capture the electricity of actually BEING THERE!
I will have an 800 number and email set up tomorrow for the retreat reservations. I have yet to get the hotel discount set up (although I know I won't have any problem doing it).
ok you got me... SHAMELESSLY dying for you to start accepting payment, hey, this is going to be an AMAZING oppurtunity for anyone, who wouldn't go crazy about wanting to be there!? JP I don't think you could have setup a better fitness retreat, I mean damn!!!
Jeez... That would be an expensive weekend for you. Maybe you could just do a two week vacation in the US and make this a small part of your trip. While in the US you could do some backpacking in Colorado, Mountain biking in Moab, or rock climbing at Yosemite. Of course, this would still be the best and most memorable part of your trip!
