Hey guys just though I would keep you all updated that my first competition is tomorrow at 1:00 pm. Its four events and should be a good time. I am looking okay for a couple but am pretty done for on the overhead press.
The events in order are:
-Strict Viking Press (overhead press on a lever type of thing): 275 lbs for reps
My prediction, nothing. I have trained it enough to know that this weight isn't happening yet.
-Trap Bar Deadlift for reps: 500 lbs
My prediction, I should be good for one or two. Its going to be a struggle and I plan to pull on that bar till I pass out or lift it, which ever comes first.
-Crusafix hold with two 22 lb axes (weight held at arms length for time)
My prediction, somewhere between 35-40 seconds. This is all mental though and I need to get really into it before I do it. It hurts the shoulders more than anything.
-Husafell stone (large kite shaped thing carried in arms) 350 lbs for distance
My prediction, no idea. I have only done it with 200 lbs and it was easy, but I am not sure how far I am going to take it. I plan to walk till my body gives out though to make up for the crappy overhead showing. Its going to be killer.
I am pretty nervous right now, but the guys I train with are super supportive and I am going to have a bunch of fans so that is pretty cool. I will have pics and video to show probably sometime on Sunday and a meet report Saturday afternoon.

Thanks a ton guys. It went really well. I am very pleased with my performance overall and I learned a lot for my next one.
I will start a new post probably tomorrow with a better write up and some pics but briefly:
I took 9th out of 9, but faced some hard guys. Just a half point more and I would have been in a three way tie for 7th.
Viking was rough, as I predicted nothing. I need to get working on my overhead strength and I have some good ideas so that should be fun.
Deadlift was awesome. I hit 5 reps total and felt like a beast. Beat at least two guys, maybe three. I gave that bastard everything I had.
Crusafix, this was my disapointment. I only hit 25 seconds. Had more in me but the ax slipped out of place, it will make more sense with a pic.
Hussafel was also awesome. I caried it for 128 feet which was good for 5th. I walked till my body gave out and the stone fell. Impressed a lot of people with that one. Got quite a few hand shakes.
So I am happy with how I did but have a lot of weaknesses I have to work on before I compete again. Got some cool war wounds from the Husafell on my arm, I will have to get pics of them too.
Thats all for now, its time to go out and celebrate.

The video of my deadlift is awesome. I don't remember any of it, but after I pull my first one, I am really excited and just hell for a couple seconds before I decide I should probably try for a couple more.
And Buk, 128 feet was definatly cardio. I collapsed when I was done, it was awesome.
