I finally noticed that the New Year's crowd is finally thinning with this week.

That being said I thought maybe a thread on everyone's goals for this year (not resolutions as this is a lifestyle... blah, blah we all make some kind of goal/plan with a new year) and whether people are still nose to the grindstone and how they are keeping their focus.

Maybe someone that has faltered a bit might find renewed motivation by reading what everyone has been doing to keep their sight on the prize (whatever that may be). We are a tenth of the way through the year already.

My goals were many but one was to erase what I went through last year to get to where I was in 2003. Between work and relationship turmoils with the cherry topping two injuries, last year really took its toll. I am looking to get back down to 175-180 with single digit BF%. Also to get back on the trails and maybe get an XTerra race or two in. El Nino (trust me it's back) has kept the trails in LoCal almost untouchable so far.

Anyone else?

well alrighty I will join in. Get freakin huge!!!! That is my goal this year. want to sit somewhere around 230 with a resonable BF%, right now after about 2 month of bulking already at 226 with 17%, Im 5'11" working a 2 on 1 off, hitting one muscle group eachday, have seen really nice results so far. Want to make the bar bend cause like Markus Ruhl says " if the bar aint bending-your just pretending" well I know that my gym is already thinning out. And being in the Army I really dont want to get deployed again, that really puts a hurting on the workouts!!

Shhhhh, Not so loud. You don't want to be a muscle head that only lifts heavy and pushes people around, do you?

Had to laugh when I saw your post. Great goal man.

Good Luck YL. The warm weather should help as it always make it easier to get out and hit the trails!

I'm actually leaning more toward body composition, speed, and flexibility this year. With that in mind, I am continuing my boxing training for the foreseeable future, will continue yoga until at least May (after that, I'd have to *gasp* pay for it), and when warmer weather arrives, I'll be back out on the field with plyometrics and sprint training.

I hit my ruts on Fridays after a week of not sleeping well (just something wrong about having to go to bed at 7 to be up at 3 to be at work at 4). Other than that, I'm actually still in the groove. Oh yeah, I haven't set foot in my lifting gym since December for the very purpose of avoiding the New Year's crowd, though I'm sure the view there is much better than at the boxing gym

I wouldn't feel bad about the view. The ones that herd themselves in for January aren't the ones you want to look at anyways. The ones you want to look at are the ones that show up day in and day out. They will still be there when you go back.

This is kind of a mean post. In reflection. I could have been more diplomatic than using the word herd.

Get to 160lbs of lean mass by the time I'm 18(september)!! ;[
I know this looks kind of farfetched because I'm 145 right now (single digit bf% though ) but hey! Big goals keep you motivated!

I don't suppose the word "pod" would be any more appropriate

I'm hoping to:

- bench 300 pounds by the end of the year (did 180 for 5x5 last workout),

- run a half marathon in less than 2 hours,

- perform 30 consecutive chinups (can do about 18 or so right now).
