Default Question about Psoas Major, QL and Lumbar fascia

What are some good ways to diagnose which one you've injured? I'd ask this in the injury forum, but I'm not sure where it's applicable, since all I want to know is what to look for. I can run through my symptoms, but I thought I'd avoid that since like I said, this isn't the injury forum.

I've done some research on my own, but for someone who hasn't studied anatomy self-diagnosing is becoming quite confusing (I know the treatment is going to be ice, rest and NSAID's, I just want to pinpoint the problem so I can figure out if there's something I should be doing to make sure this doesn't happen again). Any resources would be helpful.

self-diagnosing is tough and its hard for people on the computer to diagonose other people if they cannot see you or feel you. There are pro's and cons to self-diagnosing. You know the pro's, but the cons are the injury becoming worse due to wrong self-diagnose or one of us saying to do something and then all of the sudden gets worse. Best bet is to go see a doctor. foam rolling or massage may help tight/stiff muscles, but it either may help you, may not help you, or make you worse and that is because you dont know if it is tight, inflammed, torn, sprain, strain, pulled, etc. best bet is seeing a qualified professional (in person). Sometimes you think something is just tight, but rolling or massage can make it worse if its torn or something.

go see a doctor or a physical therapist in person. Its hard to diagnose online without seeing you in person. Self-Diagnose like I said is not such a good idea, especially if you know you injured something and trying to fix it yourself without a qualified professional.

It's a reoccuring injury, which is the only reason why I've been able to pin it down to three possible strains. My gut tells me QL or Psoas Major, but I'm not sure. Usually happens when I work with heavy weights overhead and don't brace properly or lose my balance (like I did with my Push Jerks today). It's not serious, just an annoyance. If I thought it was serious, I'd go see a Dr. or Physio, I'm not hobbling around, it's just sore, especially when I contract my lower back and abs to brace. Thanks though for the cautious approach.

Contact Julie in the injury & rehab forum and she will be able to help you with exercises and stuff to do. She is a physical therapist. Lisa is also a good one to talk to as well. Its hard to self-diagnose by yourself without the help of a qualified professional. Post in the rehab forum and they will help you.
