So when I do this, is the motion supposed to be just like a regular deadlift? On deads, the bar is supposed to come up your shins. With the hacks, does the bar ride up the back of your calves? Just trying to get it right here... thanks.

These are sometimes called reverse deadlifts - motion is very similar to deadlifts, but the bar is behind you - you won't be able to lift anywhere near as much weight, and this really *hammers* your quads. Focus on form - keep your back straight, squat real low at the start, and keep your knees lined up with your toes or behind them.
