Default Fitness Competition

Hi all,

I am planning a fitness competition and thought id open it on here to see if you have any suggestions.

Basically, we are running a strongman event next month, and the idea came to me that we should have a "fitman" event too!

I was playing around with the idea last night at work, and have come up with the following ideas, though feel free to offer alternatives!

1. Rope Climb - A timed event, with the winner reaching the top the most times in 2 minutes.

2. Press Ups - Same as above. Is this too simple? Im not sure, I love press ups, but do I need something with a bit more novelty value?

3. Run - I toyed with what to do with a run, and decided upon a bleep test.

4. Medley - Something along the lines of a tyre filp followed by sandbag carries.

5. Stress Test - As with the press ups, I am not sure if this has teh novelty factor. I am thinking along the lines of a squat position hold for as long as possible.

6. Deadlifts - Obvious concerns with this one are a) it might put some non lifters off, and b) non lifters arent going to have the technique nailed. I would however like some sort of strength ex.

Now, I have tried to make sure there are a variety of exercises to ensure everybodys strengths/weaknesses are covered, would you say that the above does that?

I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

Cool Idea. My random thoughts:

1) stay away from "injury" Number within time is a good approach.
2) The tire flip and the deads seem to be a "strongmanish for me
3) I like the idea of events that give people who are strong in moving their body weight. So I like the rope climb, press-ups are cool (push ups in NA) but perhaps you could make them "elevated" or on one leg (or clap push ups) to make a change. I suggest a time limit (how many in three min or something like that.
4)Stress tests are not fun to watch.., and there can be complainers on the judging. How about burpees instead.

cheers

Peter

chinups?

boot camp style obstacle course?

And something involving attractive women sitting on a guy's shoulders while he does... anything.

How do any of these define a "fitman"?
