Well, I'm stuck in Nebraska waiting for clearance aboard Flight 3336 from Seattle. We were diverted thanks to bad weather and a closed KC airport. This post is coming to you via my Google phone so bear with the typos.
Rumor has it Alan Broragon's plane may have touched down. I'll be documenting non-travel related festivities in KC on my blog: http://ryanzed.blogspot.com and on Twitter. I go by ryanzed. Here's to an awesome summit experience.
I got up kind of early this morning (5:15) and decided I walk around the hotel to see if I could find any JP Fitness associates to talk with. Didn't happen. In fact, I only seen two people in the entire hotel. Anyways regarding my summit experience. I really enjoyed the summit. I made some new friends and I liked the hotel. The group done well with the workout yesterday and I had a good time last night at dinner. My plane leaves today at 5:05 pm so in the meantime I am going to do some training at my pal Will's gym. We will probably do some olympic weightlifting and strongman.
Absolute pleasure meeting you in person. I'll have to try and dig up some old Rickson Gracie videos on Youtube.
To everyone else,
Sorry I wasn't around more to mingle. The girl and I have exams of plenty beginning tomorrow. I'm a full time student and faculty at the University of Washington, and that whole work/life balance thing is a bit of a challenge. I did manage about 24 hours of non-school related activity (including sleep) over three days, so not too shabby.
The blog is barren and I don't have the spare minutes to draw up my thoughts but I'll be sure to have something produced and posted in the near future. Thanks again Nick for stepping up and putting on a really informative summit.
David and I are safely back in Portland after an ALL night-er. WE were up at 5:15 AM but on our way to the airport. Sorry we missed you Coach Hale. I cannot adequately express the gratitdue I feel to you and the other presenters for taking the time to come to this event and work with us all so closely. I very much enjoyed your presentation and was sorry to see it cut short, but I did have fun in the kick-ass kickboxing style class. I have never done that before and think that one day I will have to do some more of it. I look forward to reading more of your material as I can digest it!
You had a paper with notes on it for your presentation. Is there anyway that we can get that outline electronically?

Up at 5 am and sitting at gate 10 in KC airport waiting for my return home. Very depressing, since I have to leave so many friends, old and new. One of the best summits, ever.

I don't want to let this thread go on too long without a BIG thank you to Nick (ninja) for organizing a great summit. Additional thanks to his brother, David, our own Racer Bill, and Nick's parents who are nothing short of golden.

no, I only use the term to describe a feeling or an emotion that coach hale as yet to name...
He's kinda like Chuck Norris in that regard.
well...a gay Chuck Norris, that is
Ummmmm...I'm gonna go ahead and just let YOU say that...
Seriously tho...I can only imagine what his MMA training is like...seeing as the group he had by the pool dwindled to about 1/4 of the original group by it's end!!!

My DH and I were in that small group... when we came home, he said something about how funny we all are - a fitness conference with lots of unhealthy eating, drunken revelry and minimal actual workouts

The only thing missing was hookers, at least last year. What a family

Good thing your hubby was there to add a little more fitness to the group with his daily runs . And you definitely added to my daily activity with the Starbucks trips!
Hey, some of us went to the gym on Friday and got in a full workout. And I lacked the coordination and attention span to hang during Saturday's workout. But yeah, there was kind of a lot of eating. And Saturday night was all about getting loose and getting to know everyone down in the basement, and realizing that Sunday would be a true recovery day.
Thanks again to Nick for all your hard work. I know I couldn't have pulled it off. I am saving up for next year.

yeah coach's workouts are no joke, I have participated in dozens of them, and trust me they have only gotten harder

1) Broke all the rules of good nutrition.
2) Drank to excess. (see #1)
3) Got little sleep.
Just remember, all of you, that you earned the right to do for a few days, what some people do all their lives, having never paid their dues.

What's the fun of working hard all year if you can't cut loose for one weekend? Half the fun is watching people progress year after year. When I first met John he was old. Well, OK, he's still old so maybe it was a bad example. But at least he's one fit pain in the a$$. You get my point.

It was my favorite summit since I got to be a participant and not the chief worrier this time around. Nick did such a fantastic job.
Some surprises...
Met several "lurkers" which I thought was fantastic. How many forums are so friendly and inviting that people who just read and don't even post feel comfortable going to meet everyone as a total stranger? I think it says a lot about our general body of frequent posters.
Karla was a HOOT! Her posting style is usually very short which comes across as terse, but she couldn't have been more different in person. What an absolute delight! Not only that, she plays the classical guitar quite well. Thanks for coming this year Karla. I hope you make them all from now on.
Julie is a genius! Seriously, she's not just your average every day physical therapist. She figured out my boo-boos and put me on the path to healthy again. She really listens (most of them already know everything so they don't bother with that part), and she does very clever assessments/movement screens. I wish she lived closer!
Nick's parents have to be the sweetest people I have ever met. I wanted to be adopted into that family. They are a great family. It's easy to see why Nick is such a likeable happy-go-lucky kinda guy. He comes from good people.
Kansas City was a great place to host this event. Great restaurants, shopping, and jazz bars all in walking distance. I even took in some time at the Nelsen, one of the finest art museums in the US (no joke). I'm in favor of doing them there in the future.
John (Mahler) just doesn't age. Don't see how it's possible, but the guy just gets younger looking every year!
Some things that were not so surprising, we always have a great time. We are such a diverse group in age, ethnicity, gender, income, etc, but none of that seems to separate us... There is a true sense of kinship with this group. As a few attendees put it, it is a bit like going to a family reunion (with family you actually like) every year.
Nick, you are da man! Thanks again for picking this up. Thanks to all those who helped him organize. Thanks to his brother and Bill for patiently taxiing us all over town. Thanks to everyone who came to KC, both first timers and regulars. I had an absolute blast and I have a mild case of post-summit blues. I can't wait till next year.
