Question

currently i am trying to switch up my workout since it seems to be beneficial to do so every so often. i am having a few questions however.

workout schedule:

monday - chest/tri's
tuesday - shoulders/traps
wednesday - back/bi's
thursday - off
friday - legs
saturday - chest/tri's
sunday - off

i would then repeat the same days but i rotate excercises......the next week will look like this....

m - shoulders/traps
tu - back/bi's
wed - legs
th - off
fri - chest/tri's
sat - shoulders/traps

i would continue to do this pattern....

QUESTIONS:

1. should i split up my shoulder/traps from my back/bi's

2. am i getting an adequate amount of rest (each body part only done 1x a week.....2x a week every 4 weeks)

3. what are some good alternate excercises for each muscle group....chest, tri's, shoulders, traps, back, bi's, legs

any response appreciated!!!

I'm not real crazy about your split. If you are going to do four days, why not do all your parts twice a week? Like this:

Mon. Upper
Tues. Lower
Wed. Rest
Thurs. Upper
Fri. Lower
Sat. Rest (or some fun recreational activity like tennis, golf, or waterskiing)
Sun. Rest (same as Sat).

As far as alternates... What exercises are you doing currently? I have no idea what your current base of knowledge is. Frankly though, it doesn't take much. Most people make routines more complicated than they have to be. Real basic compound movements are usually the most effective ones.

Welcome to the forum! Hope we can help you with your routine.

if i do upper, lower, rest i feel like i do not get enough work done......by the time i get to my arms they are fatigued and cant lift enough weight...i like to isolate each muscle group and lift specific excercises...also, i do not think that is enough rest

i stress would like to stress my upper body a little more than my lower because i do do cardio and get a good leg workout aside from lifting legs.

do you have any suggestions for a different split i could use???
