To the panel... Are any of you familiar with this company?

http://www.velocitysp.com/

There is a ortho doctor's group consulting with me about developing a facility and program for sport-specific training, injury rehab, etc., and they are looking seriously at this company. Of course, on paper they look pretty good (so far), but I am generally skeptical of prepackaged programs like that. I wondered if any of you have heard of them or know anything about them. Or, after browsing their site, see anything that impresses or repels you.

JP, yeah...that's Loren Seagrave's company and they are spreading like wildfire throughout the U.S. One just opened our our way in Orange county and rumor has it that they are scouting my (and Alwyn's) area in the Santa clarita Valley for a possible location.

I don't know much about the company but the fact that extremely well-respected S&C Coach Steve Plisk left his post @ Yale univ. to take a position in this company leads me to believe that there is probably something solid here.

Thanks Dos. That seems like a pretty positive endorsement coming from someone with your perspective. Bill? Alwyn? Craig? Any of you guys know of this group? Comments?

I don't know anyone that works at one specifically. Steven Plisk is a well respected guy...so that at least says something about his facility.

And they sure are going to have a lot of locations:

In the end, to me, it all comes down to the quality of the staff.

JP,

I've actually done a wee bit of investigating a while back and requested an info packet (I think all the info is actually available on the site now). They certainly seem to have a good system from a business standpoint with as many facilities as are projected to open.

There is a cookie-cutter approach for all athletes in following a 8 or 12 week program initially. From there I think there's some individualization.

The advantage I can see is the system is already in place and you have corporate support for marketing and business issues.

To echo Dos and Craig, if Steven Plisk is involved there must be something to it.

If you're interested, I think the Parisi School is also doing the franchise thing now as well at www.parisischool.com.
