Default Low Back Savers

For those of you that haven't seen it Cressey's excellent article on low back pain, and how not to get it, is up on T-Nation today.

I've followed Dr. McGill's advice for some time now with just about all of my clients and it's really helped those with back issues, not to mention my own history with back problems.

I read it and thought it was good. I was interested in his comments about the client with limited lumbar movement tweaking things further up. Since you've been working with McGill's recomendations for awhile with clients, would you change anything if your client had a 2-level spinal fusion L4-S1 - not going to get any motion there - how to avoid tweaking further up the line?

I haven't had anyone with such a spinal fusion, but have clients that have had relatively minor procedures done. In such cases we work on thoracic mobility and extension, along with hip mobility and core strength & stability. Basically get everything above and below as strong, stable, and mobile as possible.
