Default Couples Fitness Competition

This past Saturday a colleague & I held the first in a series of Couples Fitness Competitions at the old Muscle Beach in Santa Monica.

11 couples competed in 6 events:
1. max pull-ups or inverted rows
2. max reps kettlebell clean & jerk (men 16kg, women 8kg)
(one girl did 90 reps with the 16kg)

3. metabolic circuit for time (25 box jumps, 25 pushups, 25 jump rope singles, 25 burpees)

4. partner isometric squat hold for time

5. suicide sprint relay

6 obstacle course: balance beam, 15' rope climb, ring course, frog hops, partner carry through speed ladder, 80lb sandbag sprint.

Check out the video and picture slideshow:

If you look closely you might even see a Lost Dog wandering the course. We're waiting for he and Galya to come and dominate next time.

It was a lot of fun to watch. You've got a good bunch of clients, trainers, and friends there. I have a healthy respect for the competition...

Glad you could make it up Roland, that was a blast. Better start training now so you can hang with Brittany on the kettlebell lifts and sprinting

I think for the next one we'll give the option for using heavier bells. 16kg is pretty light for guys so it becomes more about how fast you can move, rather than having to use good technique.

Having more rope climbing in the next one would be good too.

That Monty Python video was classic. Good stuff.

The tentative date for the next competition is June 13.

Will Galya be joining you Roland?

She's leaving on the 10th!

You're just afraid of our total domination!

Are you sure you don't mean May 30th or June 6th?

Yup. We don't need no Bulgarian beating our women!

Why don't you guys come up on the 30th and we can do our own competition? We'll get some other trainer folk together and get after it - stuff we can't get away with in the regular comp.
