Can anyone tell me anything about resistance bands? I used to be pretty active, bus as of the past couple of years, I have really slacked off on any sort of fitness. It's starting to show. I thought with my busy schedule, that resistance bands (you know, something I could do at home) would be great! My questions are these:

Do they work?

AND

By themselves, can I achieve weight loss and muscle tone?

Thanks!!

Welcome to the boards. All I use those for is to work my rotator cuffs. There are a lot of excercises you can do with them, however. Try the workouts at this site. Hope it helps. I doubt you can add much muscle with them though.

I forgot to mention that at thera-bandacademy.com you will find articles regarding the use and utility of resistance bands in specific settings. Particularly, here's a search engine for research articles:

http://www.thera-bandacademy.com/res...h_database.asp

There are extracts and sample pages at both amazon.com and humankinetics.com that may cover the topics you are interested in.
