Default Ab training help

I'm an 18year old female and I play soccer. And I am physically fit but i want nicer abs. What is a good workout routine to get nice abs? Can anyone help?

Abs are made in the kitchen.

That said, if this is spam, I give it thirteen hours

look up core exercises. when I took pilates at school one semester, I lost weight in the stomach and I had really good abs due to that. I did not need to lose any weight, but when you do core work (the right way..not just crunches!), you tend to lose fat in the stomach and your abs show. I just joined the spectrum club, so I am going back into core work, lifting, and stretching. I started my membership yesterday. =)

You cannot just do crunches and expect to have good abs. Just does not happen. Until I took pilates, my abs were not showing. They are not showing now because I have not worked out in a while due to schedule conflict with school and my school gym hours, so it forced me to finally join a gym so I can start working out again.

You don't need to workout to show your abs, you need to eat less.

No core work will get your abs to show through fat, and you don't lose fat because you do core exercises. You show abs because you drop body fat through a caloric deficit.

I eat a lot of carbs (spaghetti) and it still showed through. and even now when I stick my stomach in I can see my abs. I don't eat a lot of fruits and veggies and salad all the time. It probably varies from person to person.

I'm cracking up.

"You can't spot reduce fat"
"How do you know?"

(and to think I was just reading the "Do You Speak English?" thread just before I opened this one. Ha).

Do some research online or in books...there are plenty of exercises out there. One thing I can tell you is if you're doing more than 3 sets of 15 (or somewhere close in that range) a day, you're overworking your muscles. Try to rotate different exercises on different days too

p.s. One thing I love is doing sit ups while holding a weight ball of 10 or 15 lbs and when you come up- twist to either side and come back down...let me know if this helps!

My advice is as follows.

Get your BF% tested. compare it to what females are typically at before they show abs, you will have to look it up since i don't know it off the top of my head.

Realize your BF% that was tested is JUST AN ESTIMATE.

If your BF is not below said "abs mark" you need to lose some fat. If it IS below that, and not 1% below, then maybe you just have a pathetic core with no muscle definition in which case doing some rotational stuff and planks might be beneficial.

Since you are an athlete I suspect the diet is a larger issue.

ie Physically fit does not equal low bodyfat.
