Waterbury, Berardi, Schuler and Williams were the honored guest. I will venture to guess that in no other industry are the people with name recognition so accessible. There is not one of them that you wouldn’t invite into your home or trust with your children. Well, maybe not your daughters. They, as you would expect, were an extremely fit bunch. It was difficult to express my appreciation for their contribution to my health, self esteem, and confidence without being creepy. I owe them a lot. Hopefully they left understanding the gratitude for their contributions that many felt.
Waterbury and Berardi were the undisputed stars of the weekend. I’m sure both will have a long and distinguished career in the industry. They carried themselves in a manner that befitted their status in the group. Sure of themselves but not arrogant I found them polite and friendly. I’m planning to follow S2B and utilize the companion piece Gourmet Nutrition. Through both I’m going to hold JB to his word that his methods can put 20 lbs on me. If he can do that I promise I won’t mention him and Richard Simmons in the same sentence in his presence AGAIN!
Lou Schuler’s writing style reflects who he is and he is extremely knowledgeable, personable and funny. When you read his work you might as well be talking straight to him. I look forward to many conversations with him in the future both in print and other means.
I haven't found a nicer guy to talk with at the retreat than John Williams. I enjoyed our conversations. He is unassuming in everything but his passion for nutrition and archeology. There was an unmistakable excitement in his voice when talking about both archeology and fielding my nutrition questions. I sat next to him for two meals and for the record he ate clean both times. He proved that even at the greasiest of Mexican food places you can find things that are both good to eat and healthy.
With guests and attendees like were at this years event I will circle the date on my calendar each year. I made new friends and learned from experts.

Thanks for the great review Gabe, and the kind words! The next time you're in Dallas let's go out for dinner or a drink.

So, Gabe,
You, uh, liked it, huh?
Gotta say, your enthusiasm added a lot to the weekend, too.

I agree with Chad. I'm sure I had as much fun as anyone else there.
My only complaint was that I left my notebook on the airplane on my return flight.
But I still remembered enough of what Chad recommended to employ it in the gym yesterday.
My training log has all these notations like "Bench press (Waterbury style)" and "1-arm lateral pulldown." (I forgot to try the pushup/towel fly yesterday, but I'll hit it later in the week.)

Here's a link to it. The low cable pulley bench press is the most I've ever felt my chest work in a single exercise. Shame on you though Lou, Mike Mejia actually had the slide pushup way, way, back in an old Men's Health Very effective and painful!
